Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

On Tuesday, everybody is going to be wondering if Washington can get it done on the road. I speak, of course, of the Capitals visiting the Calgary Flames. What else would I be talking about? There are 10 NHL games Tuesday, even though it's a big day around the world of sports. Here are some players to target, and to avoid, for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Jacob Markstrom, VAN at DET ($33): Markstrom is off to a hot start to the season despite missing a week to attend to a family matter, as he has a 2.19 GAA and .932 save percentage. He also has the third-ranked penalty kill helping him out. Though Markstrom is on the road, the Red Wings have only averaged 2.38 goals and 29.4 shots on net per contest, so it's still a good matchup.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Matt Murray, PIT at FLA ($33): Murray has his consistency issues, but he has a 2.56 GAA and .914 save percentage to start this campaign. However, I am a bit concerned about him on the road against a Panthers team that has been quite active offensively. In fact, Florida has put a whopping 37.9 shots on net per game.

CENTER

Anze Kopitar, LOS at WPG ($19): Kopitar has notched nine points in eight games, and it's also encouraging that he's put 26 shots on net. Also, he's averaged 3:43 a night with the extra man. That should bode well here, as the Jets have the league's lowest-ranked penalty kill.

CENTER TO AVOID

Auston Matthews, TOR at BOS ($34): Matthews has notched eight goals in only 10 games, though five of them came in his first three contests. Here he is on the road for the second night of a back-to-back against a tough Boston defense, though. The Bruins' goaltending has been particularly strong, as they have a collective .935 save percentage.

WING

Clayton Keller, ARI at NYR ($19): Keller doesn't have a goal yet, but he has six assists through seven games. Plus, he's put at least 200 shots on net in his two NHL seasons, so the goals will eventually come. Don't be surprised if he lights the lamp in this matchup. In addition to having a 3.67 GAA, the Rangers have allowed 36.8 shots on net per contest.

Josh Leivo, VAN at DET ($12): Leivo has started a whopping 66.7 percent of his shift in the offensive zone, highest among the regulars in Vancouver's lineup. He's also got a spot on the Canucks' second power-play unit, so he's averaged 2:49 per game with the extra man. As for the Wings, they have a 3.50 GAA, and also the 25th-ranked penalty kill.

WINGS TO AVOID

Viktor Arvidsson, NAS vs. ANA ($23): Last season, John Gibson did everything he could to try and save the Ducks despite facing a ton of shots. This year, though, Anaheim is only allowing 29.4 shots on net per contest. This has helped the Ducks post a 1.78 GAA, lowest in the NHL. That makes this a tricky outing for Arvidsson.

T.J. Oshie, WAS at CGY ($21): Oshie has seven goals through nine games, but his 31.8 shooting percentage is going to regress. He's had three games where he's scored on his only shot on net. The Flames have a 2.70 GAA, and they also have the fifth-ranked penalty kill. Four of Oshie's goals have come on the power play, but he may not have an easy time with the extra man Tuesday.

DEFENSE

Cam Fowler, ANA at NAS ($18): Fowler has notched a point in four of his last five games, and he's played a lot on the power play as well. He's averaged 2:35 per contest with the extra man. While I expect the Predators to turn it around eventually, for now they have a 3.75 GAA and the 30th-ranked penalty kill.

Josh Morrissey, WPG vs. LOS ($15): The Jets are really relying on Morrissey, especially on the power play. He's averaged 3:54 per game with the extra man, and he's notched four points in that time. On the power play or not Morrissey has a good matchup here. The Kings have a 4.00 GAA, tied for highest in the NHL.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Jacob Trouba, NYR vs. ARI ($20): Trouba has looked strong with his new team, but the Coyotes have been a top-notch defensive team for the last couple of years. They have a 1.86 GAA this season, thanks largely to their .942 save percentage as a team. Both Antti Raanta and Darcy Kuemper were excellent in Arizona last season, so I believe in them as a dynamic duo, and I trust either of them on the road.

Tyson Barrie, TOR at BOS ($20): Barrie got off to a good start to the season, but he doesn't have a point in his last seven games. Also, for a guy that has played a ton on the power play in the past, Barrie's power-play time is down with the Maple Leafs. Of course, here Barrie is also on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, and the Bruins have a 2.13 GAA.
