DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

It was a busy weekend, what with Star Wars Day and Cinco de Mayo. However, let's set that aside now, because there are two NHL games Monday. There are two Game 6s for us to enjoy, and here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Sergei Bobrovsky, CLM vs. BOS ($7,600): Bobrovsky's last start wasn't great, but even so he has a 2.33 GAA and .928 save percentage in these playoffs. Plus, in four home games this postseason, he has a 2.26 GAA and .939 save percentage. Columbus has to win this one, and Boston's offense isn't strong enough for me to be overly concerned about it on the road.

CENTER

Matt Duchene, CLM vs. BOS ($5,600): All four of the goalies in action Monday have played good hockey recently, so there is no matchup that is terribly exciting. Thus, you will need to focus more on the way the players in your lineup are playing, as opposed to the matchup at hand. Case in point, Duchene has five goals and five assists in his last eight games. Four of those points have come with the extra man, and the Bruins had the 16th-ranked penalty kill.

Tyson Jost, COL vs. SAN ($3,200): Jost had an admittedly unremarkable season, and this isn't about the fact he scored a goal in Game 5. He was also moved up to being the second-line center, and he saw some power-play time as well. If he keep that larger role, he has more upside that other players at the same price, and even some higher-priced players.

WING

Mikko Rantanen, COL vs. SAN ($6,500): Plus, guys like Tyler Jost will help you save money to spend on guys like Rantanen. He was injured prior to the playoffs, but he jumped back into action this postseason to notch 13 points and 30 shots on net in 10 contests. Meanwhile, the Sharks had a 3.44 road GAA this season.

Kevin Labanc, SAN at COL ($4,300): Labanc has been a power-play weapon for a couple seasons now. Over the last two years, 37 of his 96 points have come with the extra man. That could bode well in this matchup, as the Avalanche had the 25th-ranked penalty kill.

Colin Wilson, COL vs. SAN ($3,900): Wilson has tallied six points this postseason, three of which have come with the extra man. It may be because suddenly he's found himself getting a ton of power-play time. He's averaged a whopping 4:07 on the power play in the playoffs. The Sharks had the 15th-ranked penalty kill, but it ranked 22nd on the road.

DEFENSE

Zach Werenski, CLM vs. BOS ($4,500): Werenski played great against the Blue Jackets, but he only just got his first point against the Bruins. However, he had 44 points during the regular season, including 15 on the power play. As previously mentioned, the Bruins had the 16th-ranked penalty kill.

Samuel Girard, COL vs. SAN ($3,200): Girard started 56.4 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second highest among Avalanche defensemen. In the playoffs, that number has risen to 60.4. The young defenseman also averaged 2:02 per game with the extra man this year. As I mentioned earlier, the Sharks had a 3.44 GAA in away contests, which is certainly enticing.
