Yahoo DFS Hockey: Thursday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. DAL ($29): Dubnyk has played some fine hockey recently, as he has a 2.14 GAA and .927 save percentage in his last nine games. Even more impressively, seven of those games were on the road. The Stars are a good team, but that's mostly because of their defense prowess. Offensively, they've only managed 2.17 goals per game on the road

GOALIE TO AVOID

Jaroslav Halak, BOS at WPG ($36): Halak's play has been quite impressive this year, so that's not the reason for concern. No, my hesitation comes from the fact he's on the road against a Jets team that recently added Kevin Hayes. The Jets have scored 3.80 goals per game at home, which is third highest in the NHL. There aren't many matchups tougher than this one.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SAN vs. FLA ($23): Couture is a name that has been at the forefront of fantasy hockey players for years, and this season has been no different. The 29-year-old has 24 goals and 62 points in 70 games, and he has 13 points in his last 14 contests. As for the Panthers, they have a 3.79 road GAA.

CENTER TO AVOID

Tyler Seguin, DAL at MIN ($29): Seguin is still producing at a decent clip, even though he's now got Roope Hintz on his wing instead of Jamie Benn. This is a matter of matchup, though. Devan Dubnyk has a 2.14 GAA and .927 save percentage in his last nine outings. Seguin is expensive, and he's got clearly the worst matchup of the pricier centers. His relative value is looking quite low.

WING

Clayton Keller, ARI vs. ANA ($18): Despite his shooting percentage falling in his sophomore campaign, Keller is doing his best to give Arizona some offense. He's notched 44 points in 70 games, including 19 with the extra man, and put 170 shots on goal. The Ducks have allowed 33.5 shots on net per game on the road, and on top of that they have the 21st-ranked penalty kill.

Travis Konecny, PHI vs. WAS ($17): Konecny must be a fan of symmetry, as he has 22 goals to go with 22 assists on the season. He's also been hot recently too, as he has nine points in his last 10 contests, which is close to symmetrical as well. Meanwhile, the Capitals have a 3.37 GAA in away contests.

WINGS TO AVOID

Jeff Skinner, BUF vs. PIT ($24): Skinner's nose for the goal has failed him recently, as he hasn't lit the lamp in 12 games.  Pittsburgh's Matt Murray has a 2.51 GA and .928 save percentage over his last 15 games, and the Penguins are weirdly a team that has been better defensively on the road than at home.

Zach Parise, MIN vs. DAL ($22): Parise has also had some goal-scoring issues recently, as he's only notched one in his last 12 contests. Don't expect that to change here. Ben Bishop has a .932 save percentage, which is tops in the NHL.

DEFENSE

Alex Pietrangelo, STL at OTT ($20): Pietrangelo's had some injury issues this season, but he's healthy now, and he's playing some fine hockey. Over his last eight games he's notched seven points, including four with the extra man. Now he faces a Senators team with a 3.71 GAA. That happens to be highest in the league.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI vs. ANA ($17): Ekman-Larsson has been even hotter than Pietrangelo recently, as he has 10 points in his last 12 contests. He's also averaged 3:32 per game with the extra man, notching 17 power-play points in his efforts. The Ducks have allowed 33.3 shots on net per contest, and on top of that they have the 21st-ranked penalty kill.

DEFENSE TO AVOID

Shea Weber, MON at NYI ($20): Weber has 28 points in 46 games, but only five of them have come on the power play. The Islanders have a good penalty kill, but it isn't as impressive as their defense as a whole. New York has a 2.33 GAA at home and have only given up 28.8 shots on net per contest in those games.

Nick Leddy, NYI vs. MON ($18): This matchup doesn't look any better from the Islanders' perspective. That's especially true for Leddy, who has only averaged 4.0 fantasy points per game. It won't be easy for him to perform above his usual standard against Carey Price, who has a 2.59 GAA and .914 save percentage.
