FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The true madness this March may end up being the NHL playoff race. On Monday there are seven games on the slate, some with postseason implications. I'm here to help you put together your daily fantasy lineup, though. Here are my recommendations.

GOALIE

Mikko Koskinen, EDM vs. NYR ($7,800): Assuming Koskinen is over the illness that kept him out of his Saturday start, he looks like a smart pick in this matchup. The Finnish netminder has a 2.43 GAA and .925 save percentage in his last 12 starts. Meanwhile, the Rangers have only managed 29.3 shots on net per contest, so it could be a light night for Koskinen.

CENTER

Eric Staal, MIN vs. SAN ($6,500): Staal didn't get a point in his last game, but that ended an eight-game point streak. It wouldn't be surprising to see him get back on the score sheet in this one. The Sharks have struggled to a strange degree on the road, as they have a 3.51 GAA in away games.

Nolan Patrick, PHI vs. OTT ($4,700): Patrick hasn't lived up the standards of the player selected one spot above him, Nico Hischier, but he's showed potential periodically. He's centering Philly's second line, and he has seven points in his last 10 contests. Of course, this is as much about the matchup. The Senators have a woeful 4.34 GAA in road games.

WING

Clayton Keller, ARI at CHI ($5,800): Keller has started 66.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Coyotes. He's also averaged 3:37 per game with the extra man, notching 19 power-play points in 68 contests. Now he gets to take on a Blackhawks team that ranks last in GAA and penalty-kill percentage.

James van Riemsdyk, PHI vs. OTT ($5,400): Why wouldn't you want more than one Flyer if you can make it work? Like I said earlier Ottawa has a 4.34 GAA in away contests. With five goals in his last seven games, Riemsdyk has 20 goals on the season. Considering that he's only played in 52 games, that's impressive.

Sam Gagner, EDM vs. NYR ($3,400): Gagner recently rejoined the Oilers, and he's already skating on their second line with Leon Draisaitl as his center. The return to Edmonton has been going well, as he has five points in 11 games. The Rangers have had issues on the road defensively, as they have a 3.84 GAA and have given up 35.7 shots on net per contest in those games.

DEFENSE

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI at CHI ($5,000): Ekman-Larsson has been tearing it up recently, as he has nine points in his last 10 contests. The Swedish defenseman also has 17 points with the extra man on the season. As previously noted, the Blackhawks have the league's worst penalty kill, so that bodes well for him.

Oscar Klefbom, EDM vs. NYR ($4,300): Klefbom likes to put the puck on the net. He has 136 shots on goal in 47 games this year, and he had 203 shots in 66 contests last season. Given that the Rangers have allowed 35.7 shots on net per game in road outings, Klefbom could be busy in this one.
