Yahoo DFS Hockey: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

It's a larger than normal Sunday slate with eight games, with the first puck dropping at 12:30 ET. The action spans all day, so lock in those lineups early and enjoy the ride!

GOALIE

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK vs. VAN ($30): It's easy to like Fleury in this matchup since he's coming off a 34-save shutout Friday night, and drawing Vancouver makes it even more intriguing. The Canucks have lost five of six, scoring two or less goals in each loss, and the veteran netminder has been rock solid against the Canucks while with Vegas, posting a 3-1-0 record and .922 save percentage.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Robin Lehner, NYI vs. PHI ($37): Lehner deserves to be the highest-priced goalie in this slate since he's leading the league with a 2.10 GAA, but the matchup makes it tough to start him. The Flyers are piping up with 4.5 goals per game over the last four and a 33.3 power-play percentage during that span. You can find the same risk for a cheaper price elsewhere.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SJ vs. CHI ($22): Couture has compiled eight points and 21 shots on net over the last seven games, and he's hitting his stride with linemates Joe Pavelski and Timo Meier. The Blackhawks defense has been suspect all year, and even worse lately with a 4.86 team GAA over the last seven outings. Lean on Couture at a modest price tag.

CENTER TO AVOID

Elias Pettersson, VAN at VGK ($24): Pettersson remains at the top of the Calder Trophy race, but he's struggling lately. The 20-year-old pivot is pointless in four of the last five games, and he failed to even fire a shot on net in two of those contests. He'll snap out of this slump at some point, but he's too expensive for the risk.

WINGS

Joe Pavelski, SJ vs. CHI ($24): Pavelski is enjoying life on the right wing, and he's tearing it up lately with six tallies and 11 points over the last seven contests. The Blackhawks own the second-worst team GAA at 3.72 and the worst penalty kill at 73.4 percent, and their expected starter Cam Ward has allowed 21 goals over the last four outings. Pavelski is poised to cash in.

Ryan Donato, MIN vs. NAS ($18): Donato is a highly skilled forward, but he wasn't given the time to develop with Boston and was sent packing. He clearly wasn't bothered by the move, as the 22-year-old has marked a point in all five games with the Wild, totalling two goals and five helpers. He has also revitalized the power play, which will come in handy since the Predators' opponents have converted on 30.4 percent of power-play chances over the last seven games.

WINGS TO AVOID

Filip Forsberg, NAS at MIN ($24): The Predators are slipping and Forsberg has felt the effects of the fall. He's recorded only one point over the last five contests to go along with a minus-5 rating. The Wild have allowed just five goals in the last three games against some of the league's top offenses, so Forsberg will have a difficult time shaking his cold streak.

Max Pacioretty, VGK vs. VAN ($18): Although he's already surpassed last year's goal total with 20 tallies, his scoring comes in bunches. He's gone pointless in seven of the last nine games, but the sniper lit the lamp four times over the other two contests. That leaves a high-risk, high-reward scenario, and it'll be tough to solve Jacob Markstrom and his .933 save percentage over the last seven.

DEFENSEMEN

Erik Gustafsson, CHI at SJ ($20): The 26-year-old is continuing his major breakout through his helping hand, racking up nine assists over the last five games. His breakout has been noted by the Blackhawks' brass, as Gustafsson is receiving top pairing minutes with 24:38 TOI during that span. The Sharks have allowed 14 goals over the last four contests, giving Gustafsson a solid chance to continue his hot streak.

Tim Heed, SJ vs. CHI ($12): Heed's not a lineup fixture, but he's gotten opportunities lately with Erik Karlsson battling a groin injury. He's turned those scarce chances into three points and a plus-3 rating over the last four games. Karlsson will be out again, and Brent Burns may also sit out this contest with an illness, which could shoot Heed up to the top defensive pairing. He comes at an immense bargain against a brutal Chicago defense.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Roman Josi, NAS at MIN ($25): The Wild's defense is tightening up, and Josi's offense doesn't look capable of cracking that. He's pointless with a damaging minus-5 rating over the last four games, making the premium price tag unintriguing.

Thomas Chabot, OTT at FLA ($20): Chabot has made fantasy owners suffer lately with 1.0 or less fantasy points in six of his last seven contests. The Senators roster is skimp with talent, which may be making Chabot's production suffer. A matchup against Florida's seventh-ranked penalty kill at 81.8 percent won't make it any easier.
