FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Happy Presidents' Day, America! There are six NHL games on the slate, but one of them is in the afternoon. Weirdly, it's a game taking place in that most American of cities, Calgary. That game isn't included for daily fantasy purposes, though, so you have until the 7:30 PM ET contest to get your lineup in. Here are my recommendations.

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SAN vs. BOS ($8,800): The Sharks are actually defensive stalwarts at home, as they have a 2.46 GAA and have only given up 27.0 shots on net per contest in their own arena. Meanwhile, the Bruins have been quite punchless offensive on the road. In away games, they've scored a mere 2.36 goals per contest.

CENTER

Anze Kopitar, LOS vs. WAS ($6,300): It's been a bad year for the Kings, and a down year for Kopitar, but he has quietly turned it around recently. Over his last 20 games he has 19 points, including six with the extra man. The Capitals are fittingly playing on President's Day, but it will be their second night of a back-to-back. That will likely mean Pheonix Copley, who has a 4.53 GAA in his last five starts, in net.

Paul Stastny, VGK at COL ($5,600): Stastny's slow start and injury have all but been forgotten at this point. Since returning from his lengthy absence, he has 24 points in 27 games. He's stayed hot too, as he has a point in 11 of his last 13 contests. The Avalanche had a bad January defensively, and in eight games in February they have a 3.75 GAA.

WING

Alex DeBrincat, CHI vs. OTT ($6,800): DeBrincat was great as a rookie, but this year he's taken it to a whole new level. The 21-year-old already has 29 goals through 59 games. Don't be surprised if he hits the 30-goal mark Monday, as the Senators have a 4.25 road GAA.

Ryan Dzingel, OTT at CHI ($5,600): Let's flip it to the other side of that Blackhawks-Senators game. After all, these two teams are tied for the highest GAA in the league at 3.64. Chicago also has the league's worst penalty kill, and Dzingel has nine points with the extra man in 56 contests.

Reilly Smith, VGK at COL ($5,400): Smith has five points in eight games since returning from injury, all assists. The goals may come, though, as he put 24 shots on net in those contests. Perhaps he will score against the Avalanche, who have a 3.29 GAA.

DEFENSE

Thomas Chabot, OTT at CHI ($5,100): Chabot got off to a bit of a slow start after making his return from an injury, but he's got five points in his last six contests. That gives him 44 points in 50 games. Now he faces a Blackhawks team that has a 3.64 GAA and have allowed 35.3 shots on net per contest.

Tyson Barrie, COL vs. VGK ($5,000): Barrie has been a power-play machine. He's averaged a whopping 4:13 minutes per game with the extra man, and he's got 18 power-play points in 54 games. His scoring has slowed down, but he's staying active, and there should be positive regression coming. While the Golden Knights' overall numbers are strong defensively, on the road they have a 3.16 GAA and .889 save percentage.
