DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Jaroslav Halak, BOS at NYR ($7,500): I suppose the safest and most logical pick would be Frederik Andersen ($8,300), but where's the fun in that? Jaroslav Halak's play has gone steadily downhill since the beginning of the season, but lucky for him he only has to outplay Alexander Georgiev to get the win. The Bruins defense is finally healthy and the Rangers are one of the worst offensive teams in the league, ranked 27th in goals scored per game.

CENTER

Patrice Bergeron, BOS at NYR ($6,900): Bergeron costs less than $7,000, which is a pretty rare occurrence, and with the way he's playing, it won't matter who it's against. The Bruins pivot has three points in three games and he's scoring at the highest pace of his career. The Rangers don't have the talent on the back end to keep the Bruins' top line in check, and over the past few seasons Bergeron's been dominated them with five points in four games.

Colin White, OTT at TOR ($4,100): The Leafs are heavily favored but that doesn't mean the Sens can't also score a few goals. Their production has tailed off since the beginning of the season, but White presents some intriguing upside as the team's No. 2 center playing with fellow rookie Brady Tkachuk and Mark Stone. They aren't a lot of options with just two games and White is about as cheap as you can go before the talent level dives off a cliff.

WING

Mitch Marner, TOR vs. OTT ($7,000): Marner has a lot of good reasons to play a very good game tonight, a day after Auston Matthews signed an extension for more than $11 million per season. The cap is tight but that's not Marner's concern, who believes he's every much as good as everyone else. It also can't get any easier than the Sens, who are only three goals ahead of the Blackhawks for most goals allowed this season.

William Nylander, TOR vs. OTT ($4,000): He scored two points on Monday, and even though his opponent was Anaheim, it's still a big move in the right direction. The bet is that Nylander can carry some momentum into another easy game, and with 24 games and a mid-season break under his belt, he should be regaining his form soon. Nylander has always performed well against the Sens, scoring 10 points in 10 career games against them.

Peter Cehlarik, BOS at NYR ($3,200): It's best to take advantage of Cehlarik's low price now before he becomes a story in the second half. The scoring winger sees 11-13 minutes per game but usually lines up on David Krejci's wing, and so far with three goals in seven games, looks like he could really be an impactful contributor. He has plenty of upside and one of the better value plays among wingers.

DEFENSE

Anthony DeAngelo, NYR vs. BOS ($3,600): DeAngelo's a talented offensive defenseman but he drives coaches made because he's not good in his own zone and lacks discipline. That makes his production difficult to predict, but no one else on the Rangers defense can spark an offense like him. He's certainly playing the best hockey of his career so far, and a good gamble at this price with a shallow pool to pick from.

Matt Grzelcyk, BOS at NYR ($2,700):Torey Krug ($5,400) is still the team's preferred power-play quarterback, but if you don't want to pay that premium then Grzelcyk is a good option. At even strength he's a bottom pairing defenseman, but with the man advantage he plays nearly as much as Krug; against the Islanders, Grzelcyk played 2:51 and Krug 3:02. The Rangers penalty kill ranks 25th in the league.
