FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays
FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Sunday is the Super Bowl, which means the NHL schedule is over early. In fact, there are three games, and none of them start later than 2:00 PM ET. The first game starts at 12:30 PM ET, so get your lineup in early. Here are my recommendations.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. EDM ($8,600): Price served his one-game suspension for ducking the All-Star Game on Saturday, meaning he's likely going to be in the net with this one. He'll be bringing his 2.56 GAA and .915 save percentage. Meanwhile, the Oilers are also on the second day of a back-to-back, but they also have only averaged 28.8 shots on net per game.

CENTER

Max Domi, MON vs. EDM ($5,700): Domi grabbed our attention with his hot start to the season, but he's continued to maintain his excellence. The former Coyote has notched 45 points in 52 games, including six points over his last six contests. Mikko Koskinen will be in net, and he's not been able to keep up his impressive start to the year. Over his last 12 games, the Finn has posted a 3.86 GAA and .880 save percentage.

David Krejci, BOS at WAS ($5,200): Krejci hasn't returned to the score sheet since the end of the All-Star break, but he has notched 40 points in 51 contests. The Capitals enter with a 3.22 GAA, but January was particularly poor for them due to a 4.17 GAA – the highest in the NHL last month.

WING

Leon Draisaitl, EDM at MON ($7,200): Sure, Price is good. But there are only three games taking place, and the Canadiens do happen to be on the second day of consecutive outings. Most Oilers I wouldn't recommend, but Draisaitl is in a different category. We're talking about a stud that has notched 61 points in 51 games. He's practically matchup-proof.

Brendan Gallagher, MON vs. EDM ($6,200): You want a guy who will put pucks on net? Gallagher is your man. After recording 278 shots last season, he's fired 187 shots in 52 games this year. He's also potted 19 goals, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him put one past Mikko Koskinen and his .910 save percentage in this one.

Paul Byron, MON vs. EDM ($4,200): Byron returned from his suspension Saturday skating on Montreal's second line with Max Domi and Tomas Tatar. He's also started 55.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, third highest among Canadiens forwards. Mikko Koskinen has been a different goalie on the road this year, with a 3.23 GAA and .891 save percentage.

DEFENSE

Torey Krug, BOS at WAS ($6,000): Krug has registered a power-play point in each of his last two games, giving him 21 in 40 contests. That could come into play here, as the Capitals own the 24th-ranked penalty kill. Throw in Washington's January struggles of a 4.17 GAA and this matchup looks quite enticing.

Jeff Petry, MON vs. EDM ($5,000): Can you guess which Canadiens defenseman has averaged the most fantasy points per game? Probably, because I'm writing up a recommendation for Petry. He's outperforming Shea Weber, thanks in part to 36 points in 52 contests. At this point, Mikko Koskinen's struggles both recently and on the road have been established. Plus, don't forget the Oilers are on the road for the second day of a back-to-back.
