FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Welcome back, hockey fans. The NHL All-Star break is over, although it's still a light Monday. There are only two games on the slate. Here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG at PHI ($8,400): I'm not loving Hellebuyck, although he does have a 2.66 GAA and .919 save percentage in his last six starts. However, I don't want any part of New Jersey or Philadelphia's netminders, and Pittsburgh's Matt Murray is the priciest goalie of the day. The Flyers have only scored 2.85 goals per game, lowest of the four teams playing Monday, so Hellebucyk is worth a shot with the options available.

CENTER

Sean Couturier, PHI vs. WPG ($6,500): Couturier was hot heading into the break, as he had a six-game point streak wherein he tallied 10 points total. Overall, he has 39 points in 46 games. I know I recommended Hellebuyck as a goalie, but a guy like Couturier is good enough to rise above most matchups, and like I said I don't expect the Jets netminder to completely shut the Flyers down.

Bryan Little, WPG at PHI ($5,400): Little didn't notch a point in his final game before the break, but that ended a seven-game point streak. Meanwhile, the Flyers have a 3.52 GAA, third highest in the NHL. Carter Hart has solidified things in net for Philly, but he's still a rookie with only 12 games to his name, and his .918 save percentage isn't otherworldly.

WING

Kyle Connor, WPG at PHI ($6,100): Connor has 19 goals this season after having 31 as a rookie. He's also got 11 power-play points in 48 games, which is as many as he had all of last year. Playing 3:27 per game with the extra man has certainly helped on that front. On the other hand, the Flyers have the 28th-ranked penalty kill.

Patric Hornqvist, PIT vs. NJD ($5,600): Hornqvist has been hindered by injury, but he still has 15 goals on 101 shots through 35 games. He's regularly put over 200 shots on net per season, so we know he's prolific when it comes to putting the puck on goal. The Devils have decided to start Keith Kinkaid, and he has a 3.64 GAA and .881 save percentage in his last 17 outings.

Bryan Rust, PIT vs. NJD ($4,800): Rust is skating on Pittsburgh's top line with Jake Guentzel and All-Star Game MVP Sidney Crosby, which certainly boosts his fantasy potential. He's also been shooting more recently, as he has 26 shots on net in his last nine contests. As for New Jersey, it has a woeful 3.88 GAA on the road, fourth highest in the NHL.

DEFENSE

Shayne Gostisbehere, PHI vs. WPG ($5,200): Gostisbehere hasn't been quite at his normal level this year, but even so he has 20 points, including eight with the extra man. He's notched 114 shots as well, and averaged 3:30 per game with the extra man. The 25-year-old has shown his offensive ceiling in the past, and the Jets have a 2.91 GAA on the road.

Josh Morrissey, WPG at PHI ($4,300): Believe it or not, Morrissey has averaged 10.9 fantasy points per game, second most of any defenseman playing Monday. He's already got 26 points in 46 games, and that's with 6.3 percent shooting, right around his career average. The 23-year-old has also blocked 86 shots for good measure. As previously noted, the Flyers have a 3.52 GAA and the 28th-ranked penalty kill.
