FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

There are only five NHL games Wednesday, but if you play daily fantasy hockey in the middle of the week, you know that's actually more games than usual for a Wednesday. Here are my recommendations for your lineup…

GOALIE

David Rittich, CGY vs. BUF ($8,000): Rittich has posted a 2.45 GAA and .920 save percentage in his first season getting regular paying time. He's also picked up a win in five straight games, and the Flames are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. They also have a sterling 15-4-4 record at home. As for the Sabres, they rank in the bottom 10 in goals per game.

CENTER

Matt Duchene, OTT vs. COL ($7,000): Duchene missed the last three games to be with his wife for the birth of their child, but fittingly he's returning to action to face his old team. He was hot before paternity leave, as he has eight points in his last eight games. Meanwhile, after posting a 3.57 GAA in December, the Avalanche have a 4.00 GAA in six games in January.

Carl Soderberg, COL at OTT ($4,600): Soderberg is giving the Avalanche some depth behind their elite top line, and I'm not just saying that because he had a hat trick in his last game. Colorado's second-line center has 15 goals and 13 assists in 46 games. Expect a lot of goals in this one, as in addition to the Avalanche's recent struggles, the Senators have a league-high 3.87 GAA.

WING

Brock Boeser, VAN vs. EDM ($6,400): After 29 goals in 62 games as a rookie, Boeser has notched 15 goals in 34 games this season. The Oilers have a 3.43 road GAA, and even their better goalie, Mikko Koskinen, has struggled recently. The Finn has a 4.15 GAA and .884 save percentage in his last eight outings.

Clayton Keller, ARI vs. SJ ($5,200): The Sharks have a 3.48 road GAA, and they are the only team on the second leg of a back-to-back Wednesday. Alas, there aren't many players on the Coyotes weren't recommending. Keller is one of the only players who has managed to do much of anything, as he has 31 points, and 100 shots on goal, through 45 games.

Alex Chiasson, EDM at VAN ($4,300): Chiasson's 17 goals have come on a 30.4 shooting percentage that will likely regress, but there are still things to like about him. For starters, he's on the wing of a line with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. That's intriguing enough, but he's also averaged 2:17 per game with the extra man. On the flip side, the Canucks have a 3.11 GAA, bottom 10 in the NHL.

DEFENSE

Torey Krug, BOS at PHI ($6,200): Krug is racking up assists, as he has 25 helpers through 35 games. He may only have four goals, but he's taken 88 shots, so he could get a little better puck luck eventually. The 27-year-old also has a whopping 18 points with the extra man, and the Flyers have the 28th-ranked penalty kill.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI vs. SJ ($4,800): Behold, another Coyote worth recommending! The Swedish defenseman has 23 points in 45 games, including six in his last 12 contests. As previously mentioned, the Sharks are on the road for the second night of a back-to-back, and they have an .896 save percentage as a team as well.
