DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The six evening games are included in DraftKings' feature contests Sunday, which begin at 4 p.m. ET. Additionally, it's a unique slate with Edmonton the only team playing the second leg of a back-to-back set.

GOALIE

Darcy Kuemper, ARI vs. NYR ($7,800): The Rangers have scored just 2.09 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five on the road this season and an underwhelming four total through their past three outings, setting up as a sneaky spot for Kuemper. He sports a respectable .915 save percentage through his past five outings and also has the potential to be scarcely owned.

CENTER

Sidney Crosby, PIT vs. CHI ($7,900): Pittsburgh is scorching along a seven-game winning streak, and Crosby is leading the way. No. 87 has marked the scoresheet in 10 of his past 11 games for four goals, 15 assists, five power-play points and 28 shots. With Chicago allowing the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five at 13.6, it's a soft matchup, too.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS at DET ($6,700): Mired in a 14-game goal drought, look for statistical correction in that column from Kuznetsov sooner than later. The Russian has buoyed his fantasy value with 10 helpers and 39 shots during the scoring slump, and his 7.5 shooting percentage is well below the 12.0 percent mark he posted over the three previous years. There's also nothing to fret about a date with Detroit.

WING

Leon Draisaitl, EDM at ANA ($6,500): This is a soft price for Draisaitl. He's combined with Connor McDavid for 5.18 goals per 60 minutes over the past three seasons, which includes a dominant 6.04 mark this year. Additionally, Draisaitl's an outing removed from a four-game stretch of multi-point showings. Anaheim also enters allowing the third most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five.

Max Pacioretty, VGK vs. NJD ($4,900): The veteran proved his health with a goal and six shots through 18:00 of ice time Friday. Pacioretty's skating with Alex Tuch and center Paul Stastny on the No. 2 line, and the two wingers have shown excellent chemistry this year while combining for 4.8 goals per hour. It's also rare to find an established scorer and high-volume shooter in this price range.

Daniel Sprong, ANA vs. EDM ($3,300): A low-priced flier with upside, Sprong has bounced up and down the Anaheim depth chart since being acquired from Pittsburgh in early December. The winger has recorded a modest five goals and one assist through 13 contests with the Ducks, but he's also averaged 2:05 of power-play time and registered 39 shots, so Sprong offers both upside and a respectable fantasy floor.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT vs. CHI ($6,400): As noted, this projects to be a soft matchup for the Penguins, and Letang has found the scoresheet in nine of his past 10 outings for three goals, nine assists and seven power-play points. The veteran is also logging huge minutes during the stretch with an average of 25:46 per contest, including 3:00 on the man advantage.

Dmitry Orlov, WAS at DET ($3,200): The Russian is reeling along an eight-game point drought and has recorded just 0.8 points per 60 minutes this season. Considering Orlov sports a 1.16 mark over the previous three years, banking on positive regression at this price is definitely in play. He also offers a decent fantasy floor through his shot volume and willingness to block them.
