DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Sunday's featured contests at DraftKings consist of the four evening games with a trio of tilts starting at 7 p.m. ET. It's a unique slate with the potential to load up a lot of elite scorers with a stars-and-scrubs approach.

GOALIE

Jonathan Quick, LA vs. CAR ($7,400): It's been a nightmare season for the veteran, so locking Quick into lineups is risky. Still, the Hurricanes attempt the most shots in the league at five-on-five but have scored the sixth fewest. Additionally, Carolina traveled across the continent after losing to Anaheim at home on Friday. The price is also right to take a flier.

CENTER

Nathan MacKinnon, COL at DET ($8,400): The superstar has multi-point showings in nine of his past 13 contests for nine goals, 14 assists, nine power-play points and 55 shots. And dating back to the beginning of last season, his 4.04 points per 60 minutes pace the NHL. Detroit playing its second game in consecutive nights is also a nice bonus.

Dylan Strome, CHI vs. CGY ($3,600): The Blackhawk newbie is worth a look as long as his price is down, and he's skating between Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat. Talent isn't a question with Strome, and Kane and DeBrincat have clicked for a rock-solid 4.23 goals per 60 minutes over the past two years.

WING

Johnny Gaudreau, CGY at CHI ($7,200): Not only do the Blackhawks enter this contest on the second leg of a back-to-back set, but they're also sporting an active 3-11-3 record and allowing 3.85 goals per 60 minutes in the process. Gaudreau is in typical form with at least one point in six of his past seven games and 10 total – including four goals – during the stretch.

Elias Lindholm, CGY at CHI ($6,900): A stack candidate with linemate Johnny Gaudreau, Lindholm is in the midst of a breakout season and draws the noted soft matchup against Chicago. The first-year Flame has two goals, six assists and 26 shots through his past eight contests, and his current 2.92 points per hour registers as a career-best mark.

Tomas Tatar, MON vs. SJ ($5,000): Thriving in Montreal, this is a soft price for Tatar. He's found a scoring groove atop the depth chart and has recorded eight tallies and two helpers through his past 12 contests. San Jose is also playing its second road game in consecutive days and owns an underwhelming 6-7-2 record with 3.46 goals allowed per 60 minutes since the beginning of November.

DEFENSE

Samuel Girard, COL at DET ($4,600): If Tyson Barrie (undisclosed) is unable to suit up against Detroit, look for Girard to slot back into the quarterback role on the No. 1 power-play unit. The 20-year-old defenseman sports a respectable 1.36 points and 10.53 shot attempts per 60 minutes and is averaging 9:00 of ice time per contest with Nathan MacKinnon.

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. CGY ($3,700): While it's been a steep offensive decline over the past two seasons for the veteran, it's built into his manageable salary. Keith has tallied just nine helpers all year, with only one on the power play despite averaging 2:03 of ice time per contest with the man advantage. He has recorded a respectable 46 shots and 47 blocked shots for the campaign, so Keith offers a respectable fantasy floor.
