Yahoo DFS Hockey: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

This five-game Sunday slate features three divisional games and four teams playing the second half of back-to-back outings. Here are some value players that will lift your team over the top, and some to turn away for another day:

GOALIE

Alex Stalock, MIN at CHI ($28): Since it's the second half of back-to-back games, Stalock will tend the twine. The 31-year-old has three wins through four starts, but his .905 save percentage isn't appealing. Still, the Blackhawks are an encouraging matchup with just four goals in their last four games and one win in the last 10 outings.

GOALIE TO AVOID

John Gibson, ANA vs. COL ($31): Gibson can't buy a win at this point, as he ranks ninth in the league with a .928 save percentage but has only won six times in 17 decisions. He'll face off against the league's top scoring offense at 3.53 goals per game and fourth-best power play at 28.1 percent, so his floor is lower than usual.

CENTER

Sebastian Aho, CAR vs. NJ ($25): Aho enters Sunday with two goals and six points in the last four games along with an astounding 57.8 Corsi For percentage this season. The 21-year-old is the only center who averages 10 fantasy points per contest and is under $33 in this slate, and the matchup is favorable with the Devils ranking 26th in the league with 3.29 goals allowed per game.

CENTER TO AVOID

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA vs. COL ($21): Getzlaf looks valuable at the price with 12 points in 15 games, but he's only scored twice in the last six outings and has failed to fire a shot in two of those. On the other hand, the Avalanche have been strong defensively against exceptional teams lately, allowing just six goals in regulation over the last three games.

WINGS

Alexander Radulov, DAL at NYI ($23): Radulov will suit up for his third straight game after missing 10 contests due to a lower-body injury. His production has been phenomenal in the nine games he's played, averaging 11.5 fantasy points per game and racking up 12 points – including five on the power play. The Islanders aren't anything special against the man advantage at 79 percent, adding to Radulov's ceiling.

Josh Bailey, NYI vs. DAL ($19): Bailey's accumulated 19 points – with eight on the power play – in 18 games and has recorded two multi-point outings in November. The 29-year-old's proving his production didn't rely on John Tavares at center, and he's a top play as the only winger under $20 to average over eight fantasy points per game.

WINGS TO AVOID

Alex DeBrincat, CHI vs. MIN ($22): After racking up 14 points in the first 10 games, DeBrincat's regressed to just a goal, an assist and a minus-8 rating in the next 10 contests. Now's not the time to hope DeBrincat breaks his slump since the Wild rank fifth in the league in penalty kill percentage at 85.5 and goals allowed per game at 2.63.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM vs. VGK ($23): Lines can be fluid, but Nugent-Hopkins has moved from flanking Connor McDavid on the top line to centering the second unit with Ty Rattie and Ryan Spooner. That narrative writes itself, and his ceiling drops even further against a strong Golden Knights penalty kill at 86.4 percent. Top it off with just one goal in the past four games, and RNH should remain out of daily lineups.

DEFENSEMEN

Miro Heiskanen, DAL at NYI ($14): After starting slow with just four points in his first 13 NHL games, the 19-year-old is hitting his groove by doubling that total with four helpers in the last six contests. Heiskanen logged over 25 minutes per contest over that span, and he'll square off against an Islanders team that's yielded five points to defensemen over the last two games.

Damon Severson, NJ at CAR ($14): With three goals and 10 helpers this year, Severson's well on his way to shatter career highs across his stat line. The 24-year-old is red-hot with a goal and four assists in the last five games, and he'll square off against either Petr Mrazek or Curtis McElhinney – both sporting a save percentage below .890 on the season. Severson's price tag hasn't followed his crafty performances, so he's a necessary addition in daily leagues.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Oscar Klefbom, EDM vs. VGK ($19): If you're going to fork up the cash for the fourth-most expensive blueliner, he better not be on a four-game pointless streak. Klefbom is despite major time on the power play. Vegas, as mentioned earlier, is strong against the man advantage. That means Klefbom's ceiling is low on the second half of back-to-back games.

Jared Spurgeon, MIN at CHI ($17): The Wild have four defensemen priced at either $17 or $18, but the upside's low for Spurgeon. He's never been known for an offensive knack, and the 28-year-old is pointless with seven shots on goal over the last four contests. The trend doesn't appear to be letting up here, as the Blackhawks have allowed just one point to a defenseman in their last three games.
