Goalie
Mike Smith, CGY vs STL ($8,400): Smith has won four of his last five starts and has nine wins on the season, which is third in the league. He's not letting much get by him in the crease with a 2.53 GAA and .924 save percentage. The Canadian net minder is seeing a hearty shots against him, which will aid his upside in this matchup.
Center
Jordan Staal, CAR vs DAL ($5,400): With six goals, three assists and an average of 2.73 shots on goal, Staal is a great option. He plays on both ends of the ice, the power play and penalty kill and is seeing almost 19 minutes of ice time per game.
Mikael Backlund, CGY vs STL ($5,100): Backlund has points in each of his last three games (four assists) and has four goals with six assists overall. Skating close to 19 minutes per game, Backlund has anchored down the second line and sees time on both special teams units.
Wing
Alexander Radulov, DAL at CAR ($6,400): Compared to his two high-priced teammates Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, Radulov is a nice bargain. He has points in eight of his last nine games with five goals (two on the power play) and nine assists overall on the season. Radulov is a highly skilled power forward with a solid floor and very nice upside.
Jeff Skinner, CAR vs DAL ($5,700): Skinner's goal last time out broke a four-game point drought. He has eight goals on the season and is averaging a whopping 3.67 shots on goal per game — he puck is going to start going in with more frequency for Skinner sooner than later with that type of shot volume.
Mattias Janmark, DAL at CAR ($3,600): Janmark is skating on the second line with Tyler Seguin and Devin Shore, which makes him considerable right away, especially at this salary. He scored a goal in his last game (shorthanded) and has four goals and five assists this season. At $3,600, you get a great value for a skilled player that sees time on the power play.
Defense
Joel Edmundson, STL at CGY ($4,000): The Blues' back end is anchored by Alex Pietrangelo, but Edmundson has flashed some offensive ability while averaging nearly 20 minutes of ice time per game. He also has five goals and is averaging 2.83 blocked shots per game. Hitting value should be no problem for Edmundson in this spot.
Jaccob Slavin, CAR vs DAL ($4,300): The Hurricanes are loaded with young and talented defenseman, and Slavin could possibly end up being the best of the group. He moves the puck very well, has two goals and two assists so far and is seeing a good chunk of ice time at just under 23 minutes per game. He blocks a little over two shots per game, too, which helps solidify his floor.
