DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Charlie Lindgren, MON vs. VGK ($7,500): The Golden Knights enter on the second leg of a back-to-back road set after losing 4-3 to Toronto in overtime Monday. Lindgren is coming off a 38-save shutout against the Blackhawks at the United Center, and he checks out as a solid value option against the expansion club. Additionally, Vegas has gone 1-4 through the first five games of its current road trip.

CENTER

Evgeni Malkin, PIT vs. ARI ($7,300): Arizona lost 3-2 in overtime to Washington on Monday, so this sets up as a favorable schedule spot for Malkin and the Pens. The Russian center has gone eight games without a multi-point showing but has still posted respectable numbers (three goals, five points and 21 shots) during that stretch. His price is in profit territory because of the mini slump, too.

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. CLM ($4,800): With just three assists through his past 10 games, Johansen is in the midst of a major scoring skid. He's been on the ice for 12.1 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes and is averaging 4:03 of power-play time per game, so the opportunities are there. With Columbus playing the second leg of a back-to-back set, Johnasen has a chance to see positive regression to his 98.3 PDO.

WING

Johnny Gaudreau, CGY vs. VAN ($7,300): When Calgary is at home, Gaudreau is worth a long look. He's been an elite scorer at the Scotiabank Saddledome over the past three years (35 goals and 99 points through 85 games), but his salary doesn't match his production. Additionally, the Canucks are playing their second game in consecutive nights.

Max Pacioretty, MON vs. VGK ($6,300): The Montreal captain is heating up with three goals, four assists and 22 shots during a five-game point streak. Because of his shot volume and go-to offensive role (19:42 of ice time per game with 4:08 on the power play), Pacioretty offers a high-floor, high-ceiling combo. Additionally, this is a solid matchup for the Canadiens, as noted.

Jake Guentzel, PIT vs. ARI ($5,000): Coming off his best game in weeks and facing the vulnerable Coyotes, this is a ripe spot to load up Guentzel as a value play. He's projected to skate with Evegni Malkin and Phil Kessel at even strength, and the trio have exploded for 4.5 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five over the past two seasons.

DEFENSE

John Carlson, WAS at BUF ($5,900): While this will be Carlson's second game in as many nights, his role and production are tough to look past at this price. He's collected 11 points and 50 shots while logging a hefty 27:14 of ice time per game, including 4:06 on the power play. It's also a solid matchup with Buffalo allowing the 10th-most high danger scoring chances (11.8) and 10th-most expected goals against (23.4) ) per 60 minutes at five-on-five in the league.

Michael Stone, CGY vs. VAN ($3,200): With Travis Hamonic out due to an undisclosed injury, Stone climbs into a top-six role and receives a significant value boost. Stone logged a season-high 24:10 of ice time and recorded a goal and six shots last time out, and he's proven to be a solid daily option in the past when receiving enough minutes. His salary also opens up cap space to spend elsewhere.
