Smith won this week's Scottsdale AZ Open with a final score of 18-under-par.
Per Will Gray of GolfChannel.com
, Smith was a 500-1 long shot to win a tournament that featured several regular PGA Tour members, but his final-round 62 helped him overcome all competitors and take home the title. Smith has played only in Mini-Tour events this season, and he went a couple months appearances before playing a Golden State Tour event in late April. It remains to be seen if he will play in the next Mini-Tour tournament -- the Outlaw Tour's TPC Champions Classic, which begins next Tuesday, but given his impressive showing this week it seems likely he will be in the field.
