ANALYSIS
Though Grant spent most of the 2019 campaign on an NFL roster, the slot wideout only made two appearances between the Raiders and Packers. He ultimately couldn't catch on with a team even as a training-camp body in 2020, resulting in him sitting out the season. The 30-year-old wideout apparently isn't ready to hang up his cleats just yet, but he'll have to head north of the border to keep his career alive.

Acquiring Grant for quite a discount after the 28-year-old made $5 million in cash with the Colts in 2018, the Raiders plan to have Grant battle with rookie Hunter Renfrow for first-team reps at slot receiver. The former has experience on his side, missing just two regular season contests throughout his first five seasons in the league, but Grant also hauled in only 35 passes for 334 yards and one touchdown on 52 targets last year. Coach Jon Gruden became familiar with Grant's capabilities during the receiver's time in Washington, as Jon's brother Jay arrived as the Redskins' head coach during Grant's rookie campaign. A roster spot wouldn't be guaranteed for Grant if Renfrow ultimately secures the primary slot role, but Grant appears to have the upper hand over unproven options such as Marcell Ateman and Keon Hatcher.
Grant had a nice year with the Redskins in 2017 - 12.7 YPC, 8.8 YPT, four TDs on 65 targets - and parlayed it into a one-year, $5 million deal with the Colts. At 6-0, 204, and with 4.50 speed, Grant's specs are roughly league-average, but he has excellent quickness and good hands. Should Andrew Luck return to form - a big question at press time - Grant would be in an almost ideal situation playing opposite T.Y. Hilton and competing for targets with two Day 3 rookies and the uninspiring Chester Rogers. Grant should get his opportunities in what might well be a quality passing offense.
Grant took reps as the No. 3 receiver during offseason workouts and could emerge as a darkhorse to takeover the role this season. His biggest competition comes from 2016-first round pick Josh Doctson, who is finally healthy after battling an Achilles injury much of last season. Washington also added veteran Brian Quick during the offseason and second-year man Maurice Harris remains in the fold. However, if Grant can continue to impress the coaching staff, don’t be surprised to hear his number called at some point this season.
Drafted in the fifth round in 2014, Grant was expectedly quiet as a rookie, but caught 23 passes on 42 targets for 268 yards and two touchdowns in 2015. Still, with the Redskins loaded at wide receiver, Grant is simply expected to compete for the fifth wide receiver spot during training camp this year.
Second year wideout with excellent size and hands. He saw limited action in his rookie season and saw only 15 targets. He will compete with veteran Andre Roberts and rookie Jamison Crowder for the slot receiver slot. Likely will end up as a depth wideout and will see time on special teams.
Rookie fifth round draft pick. Grant will compete for the slot receiver spot but will likely end up further down the depth chart this year.
