Lines up as potential starter
DTPittsburgh Steelers
May 13, 2020
McCullers is likely to enter the 2020 season atop Pittsburgh's depth chart at nose tackle, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old played only 132 defensive snaps last season and has played a reserve role throughout his six-year career, but the departure of Javon Hargrave leaves a significant hole along the Steelers' defensive front. The team hasn't made any significant additions at the position via free agency or the draft, leaving McCullers as the likely option to step up in 2020.

The departure of Javon Hargrave to the Eagles provide McCullers with a huge opportunity in 2020 as he finds himself thrust into the starting nose tackle position on one of the league's best defensive units. There is plenty of upside for McCullers -- a free agent following this season -- but he will need to vastly improve on his career totals of 41 tackles and 2.5 sacks over six seasons to garner any serious IDP fantasy value.
McCullers enters his third season finally earning the starting nose tackle position, with only rookie Javon Hargrove a threat to his playing time.
After playing in nine games during his rookie season, McCullers will once again compete for playing time at nose tackle behind Steve McLendon and Cam Thomas.
McCullers will battle for defnesive snaps with both Steve McLendon and Cam Thomas ahead of him on the depth chart at nose tackle.
