Signed to a one-year contract by the Bears in March, Jenkins is a frontrunner to start at the defensive end spot opposite Jeremiah Ratliff. Jenkins should have a leg up on his main competition for the starting role, Ego Ferguson, due to his previous experience playing in a 3-4 scheme, as he did with the Redskins in 2014. However, Jenkins recorded just 29 tackles and no sacks in 16 games last season, so he shouldn’t be counted on to provide much utility as an IDP even if he’s able to come out of training camp with a starting job in hand.
Backup defensive end.
Will compete for a backup spot on the defensive line and to try and earn playing time in the rotation.
