Opts for retirement
SBuffalo Bills
July 19, 2019
Bush has decided to retire from football, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran actually had a decent shot at making the team after doing a nice job as a depth signee in 2018. However, he also had no chance of starting and the Bills have plenty of young guys to take his place. Additionally, a new veteran immediately entered the fold Friday, as the team signed Kurt Coleman. Bush has played in the league since 2011 and put together a nice career after going undrafted in 2010.

After signing with the team in the offseason, Bush seems poised to enter 2016 as the Lions’ starting strong safety alongside FS Glover Quin. In 2015, that role belonged to James Ihedigbo who finished as the 88th-best defensive back in IDP scoring across 15 games. Even if Bush can avoid the injury bug that has plagued him the past two seasons, he should be in store for a similar finish.
Bush made 55 tackles (44 solo) in 10 games in 2014 before suffering a season-ending tibia fracture in November. A potential salary-cap casualty this offseason, he re-signed with the Saints on a two-year deal, though Bush will likely sit third on the team's safety depth chart, behind likely starters Jairius Byrd and Kenny Vaccaro. For fantasy purposes, Bush would probably be best served by moving on, as he has shown that he's capable of posting fantasy-relevant numbers in a starting role. Absent an injury to Byrd or Vaccaro, however, his IDP value is minimal.
Bush, who made 42 tackle sin 13 games in 2013, will back up Kenny Vaccaro and Jairus Byrd at safety for the Saints. He will also contribute on special teams.
Bush will play on special teams and as a reserve safety for the Saints.
Will provide depth in the defensive backfield.
Bush will back up William Moore at strong safety this season.
Could see time on special teams but is buried on the depth chart.
