2018 Fantasy Outlook
Brown played a career-high 14 games for the Bears last year, though he saw just 242 offensive snaps while catching 13 passes for 129 yards. In four NFL seasons, he has a total of 317 yards and one touchdown, so he's yet to emerge as a consistent receiving threat. Since he was a contributor on special teams last year, he should make the roster while being no better than the Bears fourth tight end, and with the addition of Trey Burton to the roster, he'll struggle to see much opportunity to contribute as a receiver. Brown signed a contract with the Jets on Monday, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown has seen the majority of his offensive snaps as a blocker since entering the league in 2015 and was not targeted through 14 games with the Bears last season. If the 26-year-old is able to carve out a spot on the 53-man roster, he likely will play a similar role with the Jets.

How often does Daniel Brown run a route when on the field for a pass play?
This data will let you see how Daniel Brown and the other tight ends for the Jets are being used. Some tight ends may have a lot of snaps, but they're not that useful for fantasy purposes because they're not actually running routes. This data will help you see when this is the case.

Team Previews: Chicago Bears

Jim Coventry touches on the Bears, who enter training camp with plenty of question marks outside of running back Jordan Howard.
2017 Fantasy Outlook
Once the Bears lost Zach Miller to a foot injury in Week 11 last year, the Bears turned to the 2015 undrafted free agent to take over as the primary receiving tight end. Unfortunately, Brown surpassed 24 yards just a single time in those six games, and sensing a need at tight end, Chicago signed Dion Sims to a free-agent deal before adding Adam Shaheen in the second round of the 2017 draft. With Brown returning on a one-year contract, he'll enter training camp near the bottom of the depth chart, where his roster spot may be in peril. Even if he sticks around, though, it's unlikely he'll see enough targets over the course of the season to be a reliable fantasy option.
