Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
An ankle injury sidelined Carter for the entirety of his rookie season, during which, however, fellow 2015 draftee Quandre Diggs took over the Lions’ starting nickel back role midseason and performed admirably thereafter. Firmly behind starters Darius Slay and Nevin Lawson, in addition to Diggs, Carter doesn’t project to make much of a statistical impact in 2016 as the backup nickel corner.
Carter will begin the 2015 on the physically unable to perform list with a designation to return. Long term, Detroit's third-round pick is likely seen as Rashean Mathis' eventual successor to start opposite Darius Slay. For 2015, expect Carter to step in once he's healthy to help the Lion on nickel and dime situations, where they have gotten uneven play in past seasons. In three seasons at Stanford, Carter made just two interceptions, but batted down 20 balls and forced five fumbles.
