Ferentz spent some time on the Texans' practice squad in 2014 was the backup center in training camp, after Chris Myers was let go in the offseason. He's got football pedigree as the son of University of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz. He got a lot of playing time during preseason, but Ferentz was eventually released in the final cuts and claimed off waivers by Denver.
