Weekly Rankings: Week 13 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Week 14 Notes: Indianapolis, Miami, New England and Philadelphia are on bye.

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Player X vs. Player Y?" without any other mitigating factors. Of course, I welcome debate - if you think I'm wrong, let me know. But please check out the rankings first before asking your start/sit question. This truly reflects my opinion in my leagues.

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning. I will post at the top of the article in bold font when ranking updates are in progress and when they're complete.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments. Please keep it friendly.

Quarterbacks

1.Tom Brady TB at ATL
2.*Lamar Jackson BAL at PIT
Note: Jackson really struggled Sunday night, throwing four interceptions against the Browns. He appeared to lack 'zip' on his passes in his first game back after missing the Bears game with an illness.
3.Dak Prescott DAL at NO
4.Patrick Mahomes KC vs. DEN
5.Justin Herbert LAC at CIN
6.Josh Allen BUF vs. NE
7.*Kyler Murray ARZ at CHI
Note: Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said that he's 'hopeful' that Murray (ankle) can return this week. Murray has had two limited practices so far this week, but the general vibe I'm getting is that he'll play, so I'm ranking him here accordingly. ***Murray was also limited Friday, but he's expected to play, according to Adam Schefter.***
8.*Matthew Stafford LA vs. JAX
Note: Stafford is playing through back pain, a sore ankle and recurring elbow pain, and at times he appeared to show it against the Packers last week, though his fantasy line was healthy enough last week.
9.Kirk Cousins MIN at DET
10.Joe Burrow CIN vs. LAC
11.Jimmy Garoppolo SF at SEA
12.Tua Tagovailoa MIA vs. NYG
13.Derek Carr LV vs. WAS
14.*Russell Wilson SEA vs. SF
Note: Wilson's final line (20-31-247-2) doesn't do justice to how much Seattle struggled most of the game against Washington.
15.*Taysom Hill NO vs. DAL
Note: Hill is expected to take over as the Saints' starting QB this week, finally, though a final decision won't be announced until Wednesday. Officially named the starter. ***Injured his finger in the loss to the Cowboys, but isn't expected to need surgery.***
16.*Gardner Minshew PHI at NYJ
Note: Possible spot start duty is imminent if Jalen Hurts (foot) can't go. ***It appears that Minshew is likely to get the start, with Hurts being inactive.***
17.Carson Wentz IND at HOU
18.Matt Ryan ATL vs. TB
19.Taylor Heinicke WAS at LV
20.Mac Jones NE at BUF
21.*Teddy Bridgewater DEN at KC
Note: Bridgewater briefly left last week's win over the Chargers with a shin injury, but later returned and was feeling much better Monday. Bridgewater was not listed on Wednesday's injury report.
22.Jared Goff DET vs. MIN
23.*Ben Roethlisberger PIT vs. BAL
Note: Roethlisberger (shoulder/pectoral) sat out Wednesday but was back to full participation on Thursday.
24.*Andy Dalton CHI vs. ARI
Note: Dalton has taken the first-team reps so far in practice this week. ***Dalton will start, Fields is doubtful.***
25.Tyrod Taylor HOU vs. IND
26.Trevor Lawrence JAC at LAR
27.*Mike Glennon NYG at MIA
Note: Likely getting a spot start in place of Daniel Jones (neck). It's less certain now that Glennon will start instead of Daniel Jones. ***Confirmed as the starter after all.***
28.*Zach Wilson NYJ vs. PHI
Note: Wilson appeared to tweak his right knee in Sunday's win, but is still expected to practice fully and start Week 13's game against the Eagles. Wilson had a full practice Wednesday.
29.*Jalen Hurts PHI at NYJ
Note: Hurts is dealing with left ankle soreness. If he can't go this weekend against the Jets, Gardner Minshew would be the replacement. Hurts has had two limited practices so far this week. ***Most signs are pointing towards Hurts being inactive.***
30.Colt McCoy ARZ at CHI
31.*Joe Flacco NYJ vs. PHI
Note: Flacco was activated from the COVID list on Monday.
32.*Trevor Siemian NO vs. DAL
Note: Siemian took snaps with the second team in practice and is expected to give way to Taysom Hill as the starter Thursday night. Hill has officially been named the starter.
33.*Justin Fields CHI vs. ARI
Note: Fields (ribs) has practiced in limited fashion so far this week, but Andy Dalton has taken the first-team reps. ***Fields is listed as doubtful this week and won't start.***
34.*Daniel Jones NYG at MIA
Note: Jones has a neck strain and is unlikely to play this week, with Mike Glennon getting the spot start. Jones has had two limited practices so far this week and is more 'day-to-day' than 'week-to-week.' ***Jones hasn't been cleared for contact work and thus will sit out against Miami.***
35.*Mike White NYJ vs. PHI
Note: White isn't expected to clear COVID protocols in time for Sunday's game.

Running Backs

1.Jonathan Taylor IND at HOU
2.Austin Ekeler LAC at CIN
3.Joe Mixon CIN vs. LAC
4.*Alexander Mattison MIN at DET
Note: Mattison has a huge opportunity with Dalvin Cook likely out and the Vikings playing the Lions. ***Cook is officially out.***
5.*Elijah Mitchell SF at SEA
Note: Mitchell had a monster game in his return from a broken finger and is clearly the starter, with a starter's workload and not just the lead guy in a timeshare.
6.Leonard Fournette TB at ATL
7.Najee Harris PIT vs. BAL
8.Cordarrelle Patterson ATL vs. TB
9.*Antonio Gibson WAS at LV
Note: Gibson (shin) has been limited, as usual, at practice to start the week. ***Cleared from the injury list, and McKissic is out.***
10.David Montgomery CHI vs. ARI
11.James Conner ARZ at CHI
12.*Saquon Barkley NYG at MIA
Note: Barkley isn't on this week's injury list at all.
13.*Mark Ingram NO vs. DAL
Note: Ingram (knee) fully practiced Tuesday and appears ready to go for Thursday's game against Dallas. Ingram will play Thursday night and Kamara will not.
14.*Ezekiel Elliott DAL at NO
Note: Elliott is managing knee stiffness every week. In the wake of the Thanksgiving loss, the Cowboys suggested he could be limited this week, but that tune has changed the closer we get to Thursday's game.
15.*Jamaal Williams DET vs. MIN
Note: Williams could be in line for a big workload this week if D'Andre Swift (shoulder) misses this week. ***D'Andre Swift has been ruled out.***
16.*Clyde Edwards-Helaire KC vs. DEN
Note: ***Missed practice Friday with an illness but is expected to play Sunday night.***
17.*Javonte Williams DEN at KC
Note: ***Melvin Gordon has been ruled out.***
18.Tony Pollard DAL at NO
19.*Miles Sanders PHI at NYJ
Note: Sanders injured his ankle in the third quarter of the loss to the Giants. His status is uncertain, but coach Nick Sirianni said that Sanders is 'heading in the right direction.' Sanders was a full participant in practice Thursday. ***Full practice Friday, cleared from the injury list.***
20.Devonta Freeman BAL at PIT
21.*Josh Jacobs LV vs. WAS
Note: Jacobs was added to the injury report Thursday after an ankle injury limited his practice. ***Jacobs was limited again on Friday, but he's expected to play.***
22.Damien Harris NE at BUF
23.Myles Gaskin MIA vs. NYG
24.*Sony Michel LA vs. JAX
Note: ***Darrell Henderson (thigh) is a game-time decision and the Rams aren't very optimistic.***
25.Rhamondre Stevenson NE at BUF
26.Matt Breida BUF vs. NE
27.*James Robinson JAC at LAR
Note: Robinson (knee/heel) was listed as limited Thursday, after initial reports suggested he wasn't present at practice. ***Robinson is questionable, and a game-time decision, but is expected to play. There's enough risk here, as a late-game kickoff time, to move him down, however.***
28.Tevin Coleman NYJ vs. PHI
29.Devin Singletary BUF vs. NE
30.Nyheim Hines IND at HOU
31.Kenyan Drake LV vs. WAS
32.Darrel Williams KC vs. DEN
33.*Boston Scott PHI at NYJ
Note: Miles Sanders might be forced to sit out this week with an ankle injury. Sanders was a full participant in practice Thursday, plus Scott missed practice with an illness Thursday.
34.Ty Johnson NYJ vs. PHI
35.*Rex Burkhead HOU vs. IND
Note: ***David Johnson is not expected to play, so Burkhead and Royce Freeman will split the carries this week.***
36.*Adrian Peterson SEA vs. SF
Note: ***Peterson will be active for the Seahawks and could even be the lead back.***
37.*DeeJay Dallas SEA vs. SF
Note: Dallas had five catches Monday night as the Seahawks tried to come back against Washington. ***Potentially losing work to Adrian Peterson.***
38.Latavius Murray BAL at PIT
39.Devontae Booker NYG at MIA
40.*Carlos Hyde JAC at LAR
Note: ***Hyde could get a little more work than usual with James Robinson a game-time decision.***
41.Mike Davis ATL vs. TB
42.Ronald Jones TB at ATL
43.Austin Walter NYJ vs. PHI
44.Mike Boone DEN at KC
45.*Samaje Perine CIN vs. LAC
Note: Teammate Chris Evans has an ankle injury, so if something happens to Joe Mixon, Perine wouldn't have to share carries.
46.*Alex Collins SEA vs. SF
Note: Collins couldn't get going on the ground and fumbled on his only reception, later giving way to DeeJay Dallas in the passing game. Collins was listed as limited with an abdominal injury on Wednesday. ***Potentially losing work to Adrian Peterson, even if his abdomen allows him to play.***
47.Eno Benjamin ARZ at CHI
48.*Brandon Bolden NE at BUF
Note: Bolden (knee) was limited at practice Thursday. ***Listed as questionable for Monday night.***
49.Jeff Wilson SF at SEA

51.Giovani Bernard TB at ATL
52.Wayne Gallman ATL vs. TB
53.*Kene Nwangwu MIN at DET

56.Salvon Ahmed MIA vs. NYG
57.Justin Jackson LAC at CIN
58.Kenneth Gainwell PHI at NYJ
59.*Darrell Henderson LA vs. JAX
Note: Henderson picked up a quad injury in the loss to the Packers, but it's not expected to be a long-term injury. Henderson (thigh) didn't take part in Wednesday's walk-through. ***Henderson will test out his thigh in warmups, but the Rams aren't optimistic that he'll be able to play.***
60.*Phillip Lindsay MIA vs. NYG
Note: Lindsay had 12 carries in the win over Carolina and coach Brian Flores hinted at continued involvement in the offense, perhaps with a greater snap share. Lindsay (ankle) did not practice Thursday after being limited Wednesday. ***Listed as doubtful.***
61.*J.D. McKissic WAS at LV
Note: McKissic was carted off with a neck injury Monday night but was later walking around in the locker room after the game. McKissic is in the concussion protocol and hasn't yet practiced this week. ***Ruled out this week.***
62.*D'Andre Swift DET vs. MIN
Note: Coach Dan Campbell said 'it's hard to see' Swift (shoulder) playing this week. Swift missed practice Wednesday and Thursday and is unlikely to play this week, and could miss multiple weeks.
63.*David Johnson HOU vs. IND
Note: Johnson (illness/thigh) did not practice Thursday. ***Not expected to play.***
64.*Jordan Howard PHI at NYJ
Note: Howard (knee) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday.

Note: Gordon (hip/shoulder) won't practice Thursday and is 50-50 going into Sunday night's game. ***Officially ruled out for Sunday night.***
67.*Travis Homer SEA vs. SF

72.*Dalvin Cook MIN at DET
Note: There are differing reports on Cook's shoulder injury - it's been reported as dislocated, and with or without a labrum tear. He's unlikely to play this week and next week also appears in doubt. Still not ruled out, but hasn't practiced yet this week. ***Officially ruled out.***
73.*Chase Edmonds ARZ at CHI
Note: Edmonds (ankle) could return next week against the Rams.
74.*Trey Sermon SF at SEA

21.Michael Pittman IND at HOU
22.*DK Metcalf SEA vs. SF
