NFL Picks: Backing the Seahawks

NFL Picks: Backing the Seahawks

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

Last week wasn't good for the Staff. We went 1-3-1 on unanimous picks, and none of us finished above .500. As a result, Pianowski still has a sizeable lead heading into Week 13.

This week, we have a whopping six unanimous picks, the Vikings, Texans, Cardinals, Giants, Seahawks and Bengals. As for best bets, we have a full house, so to speak, with three of us on the Seahawks and two on the Jets.

EricksonI don't really have a best bet this week, but I'll go with the Jets. Recent form can be overrated, but what makes the Chiefs a road favorite?
PianowskiSeattle's defense has broken and fallen apart, but there's no chance I'm not taking Seattle at home with this kind of spot. Russell Wilson will put up points, even if it takes a half for Seattle to get going most of the time. They've finally unlocked Jimmy Graham around the goal line, a major plus.
LissThe Eagles are a good team, but laying 5.5 in Seattle seems excessive. I also like the Bengals getting 5.5 at home against the Steelers (that line should be three at most) the Jets getting 3.5 at home against the Chiefs (why has Vegas not adjusted?), the Jaguars laying 9.5 against the Colts (I expect a blowout) and the Packers as a pick 'em at home against the warm-weather Bucs.
StopaThe formula against the Chiefs is both clear and simple. Play Cover 2. The Bills held KC to 10 points and they typically play man. The Jets are better than Buffalo on D and will be the latest team to frustrate the Chiefs with zone. With New York's offense being at least serviceable (that's you, Gang Green, not you, Geno), KC shouldn't be giving more than a FG.
Del DonThe Eagles are legit, but this is a lot to give in Seattle in primetime, even against a depleted Seahawks defense. Seattle hasn't been an underdog by this much at home since 2012 and is one of my favorite bets of the year... I also like the Jets and 49ers this week.
