Afghanistan vs England: ICC World Cup Match 24 Preview

Afghanistan will look to turn their campaign around when they take on the hosts England in the 24th match of ICC World Cup 2019 at the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester on Tuesday.

England are comfortably placed at fourth in the points table with three wins in four matches whereas Afghanistan are right at the bottom of the points table having lost all their matches. England appear to be a far superior side than Afghanistan and a win in this match will take them to the top of the ladder, currently occupied by Australia.

Although there are no injury concerns for Afghanistan, England have suffered a couple of setbacks with Jason Roy being ruled out of the next two matches with hamstring injury, and Eoin Morgan being a doubtful starter as well. However, they have able replacements for both of them in James Vince and Moeen Ali. The side will be led by Jos Buttler if Morgan isn't fit for this clash.

Weather and Pitch conditions: Passing showers have been forecasted for the day but nothing that would effect the outcome of the match. This is the same pitch which was used in the India-Pakistan clash and it will offer some turn and help to the spinners.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-Keeper: Jonny Bairstow (9.5 Cr)

Bairstow has already scored a couple of fifties in this tournament but he is yet to get the big hundred. He could go on to get that in this match against Afghanistan as

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-Keeper: Jonny Bairstow (9.5 Cr)

Bairstow has already scored a couple of fifties in this tournament but he is yet to get the big hundred. He could go on to get that in this match against Afghanistan as their bowling unit isn't among the strongest in the competition.

Batsman: Joe Root (10.5 Cr)

Root has scored 279 runs in this tournament at an average of 93.00 so far. He is coming into this match on the back of a century and has a chance of scoring another one here.

All-Rounder: Chris Woakes (9 Cr)

Woakes will get plenty of wickets in this match if he gets help from the conditions initially. He is a good bet with his batting too. He was promoted to bat at No. 3 in the last match and scored a nice 40 off 54 deliveries.

Bowler: Jofra Archer (9 Cr)

Archer will have a chance to feast on the Afghan batsmen's wickets. His raw pace will cause the Afghan batsmen a lot of trouble and he stands a chance of picking up multiple wickets in this match.

Captain: Jonny Bairstow

Vice-Captain: Jofra Archer

Predicted Playing XI:

England: James Vince, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Liam Plunkett, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood/Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid

Afghanistan: Hazratullah Zazai, Noor Ali Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Asghar Afghan, Gulbadin Naib (capt), Mohammad Nabi, Ikram Ali Khil (WK), Rashid Khan, Aftab Alam, Hamid Hassan
