Past Fantasy Outlooks
2012
2011
2010
Griffin enters 2012 as a four-year starter at quarterback for the Green Wave. His 2011 season provided the highest volume of passes of any season in his career. He completed 55.6 percent of his 408 pass attempts, while averaging an ugly 6.1 yards per attempt. He added 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. With the offense remaining relatively similar to what it was last year, similar numbers should be expected in New Orleans.
Griffin has shown an ability to be a good, efficient passer, but his lack of big-play ability and consistent negative figures in the rushing yardage category badly limit his fantasy upside. The good news is that running back Orleans Darkwa looks like a potential star, and having a strong running game would make Griffin's job easier.
Griffin's freshman season was successful for the most part, as he threw nine touchdowns and only six interceptions. However, he showed a major lack of big-play ability, averaging just 6.2 yards per attempt. Hopefully Griffin will see the field better a sophomore this year and see the big-plays better, but it's best to assume he'll continue his low-risk style of play, which equals mediocre production. He's only worth a pick in CUSA-only leagues.
