Montgomery announced last week that he will transfer from Tennessee, David Ubben of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After joining the program in 2019 as a preferred walk-on recruit, Montgomery earned a role on the Volunteers' coverage units on special teams and was put on scholarship before the end of last season. In his interview with Ubben, Montgomery noted that he can captured a spot on the Volunteers' two-deep at receiver this spring, but a concussion suffered over the summer resulted in him falling down the depth chart by the time the 2020 season began. As a result, the redshirt freshman has elected to evaluate his options with other programs. Montgomery should retain four years of eligibility at his next school.
