Converts to tight end
April 13, 2020
Allen (groin) worked out at tight end during Tennessee's spring workouts before the football program cancelled the remainder of its practices due to the coronavirus pandemic, David Ubben of The Athletic reports.
The rising redshirt junior previously served as an edge rusher after joining the program in 2018 as a JUCO transfer, but he didn't get much of a chance to showcase his abilities on defense last season after succumbing to a groin injury in August that required surgery. Now healthy again, Allen will move to the other side of the ball as the Volunteers look to replace NFL-bound tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson, but he shouldn't be counted on capture a prominent role right away this season.
