Zeno transferred in from Baylor for the 2022 season, but he could not unseat Dylan Hopkins as the starting quarterback for UAB. Now, though, Hopkins has graduated, and the job is Zeno’s. Finally, he will get a chance to be a starting quarterback in college football, and for a Blazers team that is now in the AAC. That being said, don’t expect a big role for Zeno. This is a run-first team. Two players had over 165 carries for UAB in 2022. Hopkins attempted 215 passes and threw for 1,913 yards. Now, DeWayne McBride has moved on to the NFL, so maybe the Blazers will run the ball less without their top back. Or, perhaps, it will simply be “next man up” and Zeno will be left to manage the game like Hopkins did. Until the Blazers show they are fundamentally changing their offense, don’t buy into any of their quarterbacks, and that includes Zeno. Read Past Outlooks
Solid in season finale
Zeno was 16-for-26 passing for 285 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 45-42 loss to North Texas.

Zeno had a nice end to his 2023 season Saturday as he tossed two touchdowns for the sixth time this season. While his team fell just short of a win, it was still a productive season finale for him. He finished the season completing 73.6 percent of his passes, third in the country (at least 100 attempts) behind Heisman candidate Bo Nix and playoff bound J.J. McCarthy. He also threw for 3,126 yards (25th in the nation), 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions, adding 168 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Zeno started the spring game for the Blazers, but don’t read too much into that. Dylan Hopkins wasn’t able to play after offseason surgery. Zeno’s starting spot basically indicates he is the backup to Hopkins, and at the moment it means nothing more than that. He is a Baylor transfer, so he has some cache from being a Power Five player. Unless Hopkins is hurt or really struggles, though, Zeno will likely mostly be on the bench.
