Even with Trevor Lawrence's top backup from 2019, Chase Brice, moving on to Duke, Batson would have found himself buried on the depth chart at quarterback with Taisun Phommachanh returning to Clemson and five-star recruit D.J. Uiagelelei set to join the team this fall. As a result, he'll move to the defensive side of the ball as he looks to find his way onto the field.
