2019 Fantasy Outlook
There will be a tightly contested battle for the starting job between Mack and Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush, but Mack is our early bet to win it. Starting for Central Florida means starting for one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, and Mack showed he can thrive in this system after taking over for McKenzie Milton, including a six-touchdown performance in the AAC Championship. This will be one of the most important quarterback battles in the fantasy landscape as whomever wins the gig will instantly become a top-tier option at the position. Read Past Outlooks

Ankle
July 17, 2019
Central Florida coach Jose Heupel said Monday that while Mack (ankle) remains out indefinitely, he expects the quarterback to play at some point in 2019, Matt Murschel of the Orlando Sentinel reports. "It's not season-ending," Heupel said of Mack's injury.
ANALYSIS
With star signal-caller McKenzie Milton (leg) already ruled out for the 2019 season, Mack and Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush were expected to compete for the top job throughout August camp. The job battle ultimately won't materialize -- at least not in camp -- after Mack broke his ankle last week during a non-football activity, with the injury requiring surgery. Wimbush is now in the driver's seat to start the Aug. 29 season opener against Florida A&M, but if he struggles in his initial opportunities and Mack progresses well in his recovery, Heupel could revisit the team's quarterback situation.
