2018
Clair had a large role in the Northwestern backfield last season, but will a distant third option behind Cam Porter and Evan Hull this season.
Clair played just four games in 2019, including just one after September, as a foot injury hampered him all season. He was able to redshirt, so he'll get an extra year of eligibility. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry as a true freshman and 5.2 yards per carry as a sophomore, so health is all that stands in the way of a nice 2020 season for Bowling Green's No. 1 running back.
After averaging 6.2 yards per carry as a freshman in 2017, Clair fell to 5.2 yards per carry last year with a fed dud games and one contest missed to injury. With the losses Bowling Green took in the passing game, and Grant Loy set to become the starting quarterback, Clair is in line for a big workload as the centerpiece of the offense in 2019.
Clair quietly put together one of the best rushing seasons of any MAC back, and what's more impressive is he was a true freshman working in a timeshare with a senior. He needed just 107 carries to run for 725 yards and four TDs. The opportunities will be on the upswing with vet Josh Cleveland gone and the presumption that Bowling Green is heavily pass-first is false with Dino Babers entering his third year at Syracuse. Clair will be a featured back in a balanced offense and his big-play ability (22 percent of his runs went for 10-or-more yards) boosts his ceiling.
