Trey Sermon
Running BackRB
2020 Fantasy Outlook
Elevated to lead back status in 2018 due to Rodney Anderson's injury, Sermon did all he could to convert on opportunities with a team-leading 13 touchdowns. Sermon did split carries with the impressive freshman Kennedy Brooks who has been cleared to return to the team for 2019. Expect both Sermon and Brooks to be one of the best one-two punches in all of college football with Oklahoma projected to have one of the most productive units in the nation. Sermon should have a fruitful fantasy season behind a great offensive line. Read Past Outlooks
Resumed training in spring
June 2, 2020
Sermon (knee) has resumed training in Houston since entering the transfer portal in mid-March and is expected to enter summer camp with Ohio State at 100 percent health, Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
ANALYSIS
As a redshirt junior at Oklahoma last season, Sermon carried 54 times for 385 yards and four touchdowns to go with eight receptions for 71 yards and a score in 10 games before missing the Sooners' final five contests with a lateral collateral ligament injury to his left knee, which required surgery. He was ruled out for the Sooners' spring practices while recovering from the procedure, and after leaving the football program shortly thereafter but sticking around at Oklahoma to earn his degree from the school in May, Sermon looks like he'll be ready to go as he makes the move to Columbus. Sermon's arrival comes at a crucial time for the Buckeyes, who lost J.K. Dobbins to the 2020 NFL Draft and his presumptive heir apparent, Master Teague, to a ruptured Achilles' tendon in the spring. Marcus Crowley (knee) was also sidelined for the spring, so Sermon could have a clear path to the lead role out of the backfield to begin the 2020 season if both Teague and Crowley aren't ready to play.
