D'Eriq King
QuarterbackQB
Houston Cougars
2018 Fantasy Outlook
King followed the Greg Ward blueprint of starting out at receiver for the Cougs only to supplant a high recruit at quarterback. And, like Ward, King proved to be a natural. He took over in October and completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,238 yards, six TDs and two picks. King also proved to be a rushing threat with a nose for the end zone, racking up eight rushing touchdowns. King won't have his top wideouts from last season, but he's more experienced and will be the do-it-all threat in Houston's offense. Read Past Outlooks
Says he's 100 percent healthy
QBHouston
May 6, 2019
King (knee) declared himself 100 percent healthy at the conclusion of Houston's spring practices, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports. "Feel great," King said of his condition April 12. "I've been cutting, running full speed, stopping, changing directions."
ANALYSIS
Coming off a torn meniscus in his right knee that ended his season in mid-November, King was barred from taking contact during the spring. The signal-caller was still on the field for non-contact drills and gained some early familiarity with new coach Dana Holgorsen's up-tempo scheme, which should put King in a good spot when Houston reconvenes for practices in August. Based on King's comments, it sounds like he'll enter the fall without any restrictions, eliminating much of the concern about his ability to build on a breakout 2018 campaign. Before sustaining the season-ending injury, King accounted for an FBS-leading 50 touchdowns while completing 63.5 percent of his attempts for 2,982 yards and picking up 674 yards on the ground.
