2019 Tournament PreviewThe formula for the Monarchs is relatively simple: play staunch defense (48th in the nation) and rely on B.J. Stith (16.9 ppg, 7.4 rpg) and Ahmad Caver (16.5 ppg, 5.6 apg) to provide offense. Coach Jeff Jones led the team to its fourth season of at least 23 wins in six years at the helm, but ODU has not made the Big Dance since 2011. The Monarchs dropped their last two regular season games after clinching the regular season title and were limited to a combined 102 points. Stith scored just 13 points on 5-of-17 shooting in that effort. It was his first back-to-back single-digit scoring games of the season, though performances like that are unlikely to be repeated. Old Dominion has big-school transfers in the middle with Elbert Robinson (LSU) and Dajour Dickens (Providence). Xavier Green and Justice Kithcart -- a transfer from Pittsburgh -- provide perimeter support, but the Monarchs success will come down to its two leading scorers. Stith did just enough in the C-USA tournament, averaging 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as the Monarchs punched their ticket for the Big Dance.
