Gilgeous-Alexander entered the transfer portal Wednesday and is expected to leave Evansville, Riley Gates of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Best known as the younger brother of former Kentucky standout Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thomasi will be looking for a new school after spending two years within the Evansville program. The Canadian-born guard struggled to find playing time with the Purple Aces, appearing in 11 career games while averaging 2.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 9.3 minutes while shooting 37.5 percent from the field. Since the NCAA isn't counting the current season toward players' eligibility, Gilgeous-Alexander will be able to compete for at least three years at his next school beginning in 2021-22, if granted a waiver that allows him to play right away. Since he only appeared in three games as a true freshman, Gilgeous-Alexander could have up to four years of eligibility remaining if the NCAA treats his 2019-20 campaign as a redshirt season.
