DFS College Basketball: Friday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Friday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

It's a fairly quiet day in College Basketball today, with zero top-25 teams in action and a four game DraftKings slate on tap that is highlighted by the $10 Big Jam Contest with a $2,000 top prize. FanDuel features three games for their main $7.77 All-American Contest and $500 to first, starting an hour later than DK at 8 p.m. EST.

Top Players

Malik Williams, F, Louisville ($7,700 DK, $7,100 FD)

Williams has emerged as one of the best rebounders in the country, recording double-digit boards in 5-of-8 games this season. He's also become a more active part of the offense as the schedule has ramped up, reaching double figures in each of the last three games. The big man has also been active on the defensive end, averaging 2.5 steals and blocks combined per game. With DePaul pushing the pace, Williams will have more opportunities for fantasy points with the extra possessions.

Jordan Wright, G/F, Vanderbilt ($7,400 DK, $7,400 FD)

Normally fading players facing off against Loyola-Chicago would be a wise strategy, but they haven't been nearly as good on the defensive side of the ball this season, and Wright is difficult to defend with his ability to score in multiple ways. He's shooting far more threes this season (at a 36 percent clip) and is also getting to the line often. Wright has posted a double-double in consecutive games and has the upside to be one of the highest scoring players on the slate.

Middle Tier

DeAndre Williams, F, Memphis ($5,900 DK, $5,800 FD)

Memphis seems to still be trying to find its identity, and Williams has been the steadiest option, reaching double figures in four of the last five games. He's been efficient in the paint and on the glass, connecting on 67 percent of his shots from inside the arc while averaging 6.8 rebounds over his last five games. Williams' playing time has increased since the start of the season, making him a double-double candidate at a slightly below-average salary.

KJ Williams, F, Murray St. ($5,400 DK, $7,900 FD)

Williams has been an effective fantasy contributor when he's on the court, averaging 1.12 fantasy points per minute -- fourth-highest among those on tonight's slate. His massive price discount of $2,500 on DraftKings compared to FanDuel will make him highly rostered, but considering he's scored at least 20 fantasy points in all eight games this season, his floor is too safe to risk fading him. Williams should have plenty of rebounding opportunities against an inconsistent Memphis offense.

Values

Dan Friday, G, Brown ($3,900 DK)

Friday has been an integral part of Brown's offense this season, accounting for a massive 31.4 usage rate, which is extremely unusual for a sub-$4k salaried player. He's turned that into four 20+ fantasy point games which would far exceed his salary expectation. Friday is also not only reliant on scoring, as he leads the team in assists and steals.

Jacob Hutson, F, Loyola Chicago ($3,200 DK, $4,200 FD)

Hutson surprisingly comes in with nearly a minimum salary and is a great option if you prefer a stars-and-scrubs type lineup approach. He's started all 10 games this season and although he's no threat to play over 25 minutes, he's recorded three double-digit scoring games, including a 26-point performance against Arizona State. Vanderbilt only has one rotation player over 6-8, so Hutson could expose a mismatch if Quentin Millora-Brown gets into foul trouble.
