DFS College Basketball: Tuesday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

We've got a full slate of hoops on tap today, with DraftKings giving us nine games to go with Fan Duel's eight. The Iowa Hawkeyes make an appearance and of course have the highest projected point total of any team in the pool, making them an ideal starting point for filling out your lineup.

Targets

Keegan Murray, F, Iowa ($5,200 DK, $5,200 FD)

Murray played a season-high 31 minutes in his previous game and started for the first time thanks to CJ Fredrick missing the game. Fredrick is on track for a game-time decision so Murray should see another boost in playing time if the former sits once again. Murray is exceptionally athletic and efficient whenever he's on the court. Since conference season started, Murray is up on the Big Ten leaderboards in several categories: the 23rd highest offensive efficiency rating, top-12 in both offensive and defensive rebounding rates, the fourth highest block rate, the fifth highest steal rate and also the best two-point field goal percentage (among all qualified players). As anyone can see, Murray offers a wide and effective skill set. The only risk here is his limited playing time, and that can change depending on Fredrick's status.

MaCio Teague, G, Baylor ($5,900 DK, $6,000 FD)

Teague is one of the most consistent players you'll find. Through eight conference games this season, Teagues boasts the best offensive efficiency rating in the Big 12 while also taking 23.9 percent of his team's shots when on the court. This robust combination explains how Teague has scored double-digit points in all but two games this season. It's hard to ignore Texas' defense but it's even harder to ignore the the data that projects Baylor will score around 75 points tonight, one of the highest totals on the board. Teague should provide a solid return assuming Baylor plays up to expectations.

Ayo Dosunmu, G, Illinois ($8,100 DK, $7,900 FD)

Dosunmu scored 30 points in the first contest against Indiana, and there's not much reason to think he can't do it again. Since conference season started, Indiana's defense has played below league average in terms of adjusted efficiency while Illinois' offense has performed second best in the Big Ten in that same span of time. Dosunmu leads the team in both usage rate and minutes, so he should once again play a central role in the game. Now seems like a ripe time to take him considering his salary has taken a slight dip as of late.

FanDuel Exclusive

JD Notae, G, Arkansas ($5,700)

Notae easily leads the team in usage rate and yet comes with a lower salary than one might expect. His playing time has fluctuated throughout the season but has consistently scored points regardless. He's only had four games this season without scoring double-digit points, and three of them came recently, explaining his current salary. All in all, Notae offers a nice upside with a flexible salary. He should once again have a hand in tonight's game, one in which Arkansas should score around 75 points.

Fades

Jarkel Joiner, G, Mississippi ($6,800 DK, $6,100 FD)

Mississippi is expected to score under 60 points tonight, easily the worst outlook of any team on the slate. This is mostly due to Tennessee's defense, ranked second best in the country in terms of adjusted efficiency. Taking any Rebel in today's matchup carries heavy risk, and Joiner is particularly concerning because he relies on two-point baskets while Tennessee has a stout interior defense. Joiner doesn't usually put up many other stats aside from points, so this could be a rough fantasy day if Tennessee's defense lives up to its standards.

Izaiah Brockington, G, Penn State ($7,400 DK, $6,500 FD) [LOGO]

Wisconsin's defense is ranked eighth best in the country in terms of adjusted efficiency, making me doubt the Nittany Lions in today's contest. These two teams actually just played each other this past Saturday. Penn State won the first game at home, but now I'm thinking Wisconsin will adjust and clamp down defensively with the rematch taking place in Madison. Brockington played well on this past Saturday, but ultimately I don't believe a repeat performance will happen against an elite Wisconsin defense.

Jaiden Delaire, F, Stanford ($6,900 DK, $6,000 FD)

Delaire and the Cardinal are facing a USC defense that is ranked best in the Pac-12 in terms of adjusted efficiency since conference play started. Additionally, USC's defense is also the best against two-point baskets in the same span of time. This is noteworthy because Delaire has only made six three-pointers all season long, so his only real option of scoring is directly attacking USC's interior defense. The Mobley brothers are a major defensive force, and I don't see any reason to go against them. No point in forcing the issue when we have a full slate of games.
