DFS College Basketball: Friday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Friday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

Our featured Friday game of the night once again takes us to the Big Ten, as the top-10 Wolverines travel to West Lafayette to take on Purdue. It's one of four games on the DraftKings' slate tonight, as their main contest is the $15 Pull Up Jumper with a top prize of $3k and a 7 p.m. EST start time.

Targets

Antonio Daye, G, FIU ($8,700 DK)

Daye is the second-most expensive player on the slate tonight but he's worth spending the money against a Marshall team that will push the pace. Some may be scared off him after he only played 26 minutes in his last game, but the blowout limited his minutes and he still scored 21 points. Although the status of starters Radshad Davis and Eric Lovett are in limbo at this point, it shouldn't effect Daye's value as he won't come off the floor much and has been the go-to-guy all season. He's been great at filling the stat-sheet with 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game as well.

Bryson Williams, F, UTEP ($7,000 DK)

The forward position typically lacks depth and Williams is a great option to plug into lineups at a second-tier salary with upside. He's the main contributor for UTEP's offense, leading the team in field goal attempts while also posting a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. Williams will have a height advantage in the post over a small Louisiana Tech squad that doesn't start anyone over 6-7. A 20-point double-double game should certainly be within reach.

Eli Brooks, G, Michigan ($4,700 DK)

Brooks' minutes have been down lately but that has been in large part due to a lot of Michigan's games getting out of hand. With this figuring to be a close game, 33-35 minutes is more likely for Brooks tonight. You won't find many guys in the sub $5k salary range that will get that kind of playing time while also producing solid efficiency. Although he's not a huge part of their offense as primarily a three-point specialist, Purdue has given up 24 threes in their last two games and Brooks could be in for a larger role tonight.

Fades

Franz Wagner, G/F, Michigan ($8,300 DK)

After averaging over 35 minutes over three games to start Big Ten action, Wagner has only seen over 30 minutes once in the last five games. He's also not a huge part of the offense, rarely taking over 10 attempts and that makes his margin for error in living up to his high salary pretty low. Purdue plays at a slow pace keeping the possessions on the smaller end of things and also has a lot of length to match-up against him. I'd prefer to use Wagner at a cheaper salary or with a better match-up.

Andrew Taylor, G, Marshall ($7,500 DK)

Taylor is the eighth highest priced player and one of the things I try to avoid doing is taking expensive options that play a limited role in their team's offense. He's far under-performed this salary too often for my liking with five games under 20 fantasy points. The last time Marshall was included in the DFS slate Taylor was only $5,200. I'd rather pay-up for Taevion Kinsey ($9,000 DK) who has been extremely efficient and usually plays all 40 minutes.

Michael Forrest, G, Florida Atlantic ($6,200 DK)

There are only three teams in the country that play slower than Florida Atlantic's opponent Charlotte, who are also a solid defensive team and leads us to the lowest over/under on the slate. Forrest is heavily reliant on the three-ball – an area that Charlotte defends well at less than 30 percent. They've been vulnerable from two-point range, however, and Everett Winchester ($5,700) should benefit from the match-up if you wish to roster a below-average salary option from FAU.
