DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview (Early)

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

With two sets of games to play on the Festivus slate, we'll get things started with a preview of the four-game early slate. First, here's a look at the day's implied totals:

Targets

1. Sandro Mamukelashvili, F, Seton Hall ($8,200 DK)

The pay-up option on today's slate is an easy call. Mamu is averaging 23.0 points across 39.7 minutes in three Big East games so far, resulting in 44.1 DK points/game. With the second-highest implied total on the slate, and going up against a Georgetown team with poor post depth, Mamu should be the first lock when setting Wednesday's early-slate lineups.

2. Christian Bishop, F, Creighton ($5,900 DK)

Bishop's minutes have been frustratingly inconsistent, but I'm rolling him out Wednesday at only $5,900. Even if he doesn't have his best game, the junior forward has yet to score less than 19.1 DK points in a single game this season, so he's unlikely to kill a lineup. Bishop is also coming off a season-high 19 points against UConn, and his team happens to have the highest implied total of the day.

3. Geo Baker, G, Rutgers ($5,500 DK)

Even though Rutgers finds itself low on the implied total list, there are a few options I like here. First is Baker, because he's unquestionably Rutgers' best player, even though he hasn't looked quite himself lately since returning from injury. Still, he's played 28 and 30 minutes off the bench, and should be back in the starting five soon, where he'll cut into the volume of Ron Harper ($9,000 DK) and Jacob Young ($7,400 DK) -- both of whom are fades for me today. The other Rutgers player I like is Myles Johnson ($7,200 DK). Cliffy Omoruyi had started every game this season but is now out indefinitely, while fellow forward Mawot Mag is also out Wednesday. That leaves Johnson set for one of his highest-usage days of the year, potentially even in a starting capacity.

Fades

1. Jamorko Pickett, F, Georgetown ($7,000 DK)

Pickett has yet to hit 4x at this price since the start of Big East play, averaging 24.4 DK points/game in three conference matchups. I expect both he and Qudus Wahab () to have a tough time with the Seton Hall bigs. Not to mention, the Hoyas have the second-lowest implied total on the slate.

2. Jacob Young, G, Rutgers ($7,400 DK)

I mentioned my love for Baker above, and his eventual projected usage increase has to come from somewhere. At $7.4k, Young has hit 4x at that price in only two of six games this season. I think he's unlikely to make that a third in the second-lowest over/under game of the day.

3. Jaime Jaquez, G, UCLA ($6,600 DK)

Jaquez is the most expensive Bruin on the slate, but he also has the lowest usage rate among all starters. The Bruins also have the lowest implied scoring total on the slate. If you are looking to be contrarian, Chris Smith ($6,000 DK) would be the option to look at, as his usage rate is a full six percent higher.
