The Bulls
announced Friday that Williams will undergo left foot surgery and will be out for the remainder of the season.
ANALYSISWilliams hasn't played since Jan. 25 due to the foot injury, which was initially diagnosed as an acute bone edema. However, recent imaging revealed that Williams' injury was a stress reaction, and surgery was deemed necessary to address it. With Williams and
Zach LaVine (foot) both shut down for the season,
Ayo Dosunmu and
Alex Caruso should be locked into starting roles the rest of the way, while young forwards
Julian Phillips and
Dalen Terry could also gain some stability in the rotation. Williams will end the 2023-24 campaign with averages of 10.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 three-pointers in 27.3 minutes per game across 43 appearances.
