The Jazz announced Saturday that Markkanen aggravated a right shoulder impingement and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Markkanen continues to experience discomfort in his right shoulder since making his last appearance in Tuesday's loss to the Spurs, and an MRI confirmed that he suffered an aggravation of the injury that recently cost him time. Given that he's not even scheduled to be re-evaluated until March 13 at the earliest, Markkanen seems highly unlikely to play in the Jazz's March 14 season finale versus the Warriors. With Markkanen effectively done for the season, the Jazz will open up more playing time at small forward for Brice Sensabaugh and Johnny Juzang. Markkanen averaged 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.2 three-pointers, 2.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks over 33.1 minutes per game over his 55 appearances with Utah.
