Avdija's rookie season was a success, after coming into the league as the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The forward started in 32 of the 54 games he played in and averaged 23.3 minutes. Avdija fit in well with the Wizards team as a much-needed three-point shooting threat and an exceptional rebounder. The 20-year-old finished the year with an average of 6.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.6 steals. The Israel product hit 41.7 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc. One of Avdija's most impressive games came against the Heat on Jan. 9, where the forward recorded a season-high 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals while making 5-of-9 from deep. Another exceptional performance came on April 5 against the Raptors, as Avdija logged his second double-double of the season, posting 12 points, 10 rebounds, an assist and a block in 40 minutes of action. The 6-foot-9 forward finished the year with 13 double-digit performances and 27 games with at least five rebounds. On the defensive end, Avdija managed to grab 30 steals and 15 blocks on the year. The rookie showcased his potential as an intense defensive rebounder for the Wizards as he finished third on the team with 4.4 defensive rebounds per game.
