White's second season with the Bulls saw him experience an uptick in his numbers across the board. The second-year point guard began the season as a starter, then played 15 straight games off the bench, and then he started the final 18 contests of the campaign. All things considered, White appeared in 69 of Chicago's 72 games, starting 54 times. His best performance of the season came on Jan. 6, when he finished with 37 points and seven assists at the Sacramento Kings. That was one of the three games where he finished with at least 30 points. Other season-high marks for the North Carolina product included 10 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals and two blocks. White also posted five double-doubles throughout the campaign.. He averaged 15.1 points, 4.8 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.2 blocks across 31.2 minutes per game, reaching career-best numbers in all of those categories except the steals department. White also shot 41.6 percent from the field, 35.9 percent from three-point range and 90.1 percent from the free-throw line.2019
After one collegiate season at UNC, White was selected with the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2019 NBA Draft. He made his NBA debut on opening night, Oct. 23, against the Hornets. In 27 minutes, White posted 17 points (6-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven assists and three rebounds. He went on to have his first 25-point game of the campaign just one game later against the Grizzlies. In 30 minutes versus Memphis, White posted 25 points (10-16 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds and two assists. He had his first 30-point game Feb. 22 against the Suns, scoring 33 points on 22 shots in 34 minutes. He proceeded to have two more 30-point efforts in a row, dropping 33 again (on 18 shots) against the Wizards in 34 minutes and then posting 35 points on 21 shots against the Thunder on Feb. 25. During the final nine games of the pandemic-shortened regular season, White averaged 26.1 points, 4.4 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 three-pointers in 19.9 minutes per contest. During that stretch, he shot 48.0 percent from the field, 43.2 percent from three and 90.3 percent from the free-throw line. White appeared in all 65 of Chicago's games, with one start. Overall, he averaged 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 three-pointers in 25.8 minutes per game while shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from behind the arc. In September, the high scoring guard was named to the All-Rookie Second Team.
