Personal Bio

Chris Chiozza was born in 1995 in Memphis, Tennessee, where he also attended high school at White Station High School. During his senior season at White Station, the team recorded a 30-3 record, including a 12-0 district record. Chiozza participated in the 2013 Under Armour Elite 24 and NBA Top 100 Camp. The 5-foot-11 point guard competed at the LeBron James and Deron Williams Skills Academies and the Penny Hardaway Hoopfest. In February of 2019, Chiozza was included at the Team USA qualifying training camp for Team USA for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

College/International Summary

Chris Chiozza played four years of college hoops at the University of Florida from 2014 to 2018. As a freshman, Chiozza appeared in 33 games with 11 starts. He led the team with 39 steals and had three double-figure scoring games. As a sophomore, Chiozza earned 22 starts and led the Gators in assists with 4.3 dimes per game. As junior, he nailed a running three-pointer in overtime to defeat Wisconsin in the 2017 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen. After his senior season (2017-18), Chiozza was named to the coaches first-team All-SEC and AP second-team All-SEC. He was the second Gator to ever post a 200-assist season. Chiozza ended his Florida career as the university's all time leader in assists, he was ranked fourth in all-time steals, and became the 54th member of UF's 1,000 point club. After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, Chiozza joined the Washington Wizards for the 2018 NBA Summer League.

Shoots efficiently in win

April 8, 2021
Chiozza recorded 12 points (4-5 FG, 2-3 3PT, 2-2 FT), eight assists, two rebounds and one steal in a 139-111 win over the Pelicans on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Chiozza played 18 minutes in a blowout win, thanks in part to James Harden (hamstring) missing Wednesday's contest. The second-year point guard hasn't received consistent minutes all season and has struggled shooting, likely because of the up-and-down minutes. As the end of the regular season nears, Chiozza could see a short-term bump in minutes as long as Harden is sidelined.

2019

Chiozza signed a two-way contract with the Wizards before the start of the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season. The second-year man out of Florida made his Wizards debut during the first game of the year, Oct. 23, against the Mavericks. In that contest, he posted six points, three assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block in 19 minutes. Overall with Washington, Chiozza appeared in 10 games, averaging 2.7 points, 2.8 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 12.3 minutes per game. The 5-foot-11 point guard also spent 10 games with the G League's Capital City Go Go, averaging 10.8 points, 6.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals across 31.1 minutes per G League contest. The Wizards waived Chiozza in mid-December, after which Chiozza signed a new two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets in early January. He made his Nets debut on Jan. 18 against the Bucks, recording one assist and one rebound in seven minutes of run. In March, Chiozza saw his role pick up, averaging 10.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 19.1 minutes per game before the NBA went on hiatus due to COVID-19. He saw a slightly bigger role when the league returned in late July inside the Orlando bubble. Chiozza appeared in seven of a possible eight seeding games, averaging 8.3 points, 5.0 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 made three-pointers in 21.8 minutes per contest. In four games against Toronto in the playoffs, Chiozza averaged 5.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in 16.1 minutes per post-season contest. Over the season, Chiozza set plenty of new career highs, such as single-game marks in points (14), assists (10), rebounds (six) and steals (four).

2018

Chiozza played seven games with Houston during the 2018-19 campaign. He averaged 4.7 minutes per contest and tallied 0.9 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Overall, Chiozza converted 2-of-5 three-point attempts and 0-of-3 two-point shots. He also had one steal and one block in 33 minutes of action on the season. The bulk of Chiozza's court time came in the G League, where he played four games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and 43 games with the Capital City Go-Go. Altogether, Chiozza averaged 33.5 points on the season in the G League. He posted per-game averages of 13.2 points, 7.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds. He also contributed on the defensive end, tallying 1.9 steals per contest. The former Florida Gator hit 43.8 percent of his field-goal attempts in the G League. He showed a good touch from deep, converting 40.7 percent of his three-point attempts.
