Gerald Ellis "Dusty" Hannahs III was born on September 2, 1993 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born and raised in Little Rock, Hannahs attended Pulaski Academy, where he was a three-time All-District and two-time 4A All-State selection. As a junior, Hannahs averaged 26.2 points per game and shot 51 percent from three. As a senior, Hannahs led Pulaski to the 4A state championship game, scoring 43 points in a loss to Clarksville High School. Hannah's father, Gerry, is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. His father gave him the nickname "Dusty" after his Los Angeles Dodgers teammate, Dusty Baker. Hannahs began his college career at Texas Tech, where he averaged 6.9 points per game and hit a team-high 46 three-pointers as a freshman. Hannahs hit at least one three in 25 of his 31 appearances. As a sophomore, Hannahs averaged 7.7 points per game in 32 appearances, including nine starts. He hit 41 of his 111 three-point attempts (37%). Against West Virginia on Jan. 22, Hannahs went 7-for-7 from three en route to a career-high 25 points. Hannahs transferred to Arkansas after the 2013-14 season and sat out the entire 2014-15 season, per NCAA rules. As a junior for the Razorbacks in 2015-16, Hannahs averaged a team-best 16.5 points per game -- good for eighth in the SEC. He notched a career-high 33 points against Florida in Round 2 of the SEC Tournament. As a senior, Hannahs again led the team in scoring (14.4 PPG), while leading the SEC in free throw percentage (90.8%). He also led Arkansas in made three-pointers (74) and became the 41st player in school history to record 1,000 career points (fifth to do it in two seasons). Hannahs scored in double-figures in 16 of his 18 games and 38 of his final 43, dating back to his junior season.
