Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Nazareth Jersey Mitrou-Long was born in 1993 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of Jersey Long and Georgia Mitrou. His brother Elijah played college ball at Mount Saint Mary's, the University of Texas and UNLV. Naz attended St. Martin High School in Mississauga, but he also played at Montrose Christian in Rockville, Maryland in 2009-10 and at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 2010-11 season. While playing collegiate ball at Iowa State, Mitrou-Long earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies. Fans can follow Naz on Twitter (@NazzyJML). Naz Mitrou-Long spent five years (2012-2017) at Iowa State University, playing in a combined 131 games for the Cyclones. Mitrou-Long showed tremendous growth over the course of his first two years in Ames. He improved his points per game average from 1.4 ppg as a freshman to 7.1 as a sophomore. As a sophomore, he made the first seven starts of his collegiate career, averaging just over 20 minutes per game. The next year, Mitrou-Long started 33 of the 34 games he played, averaging 10.1 points and almost 3 rebounds per game for the Cyclones. After seeking a medical redshirt due to a hip injury that limited him to just eight games as a senior, Mitrou-Long returned with a vengeance the following season. He produced 15.1 points, 4.6 boards and 1.2 steals per game over 35 contests for the Cyclones, all starts. Mitrou-Long was named to the 2016-17 All-Big 12 second team in recognition of his impressive final season at Iowa State.

The G League's Memphis Hustle acquired Mitrou-Long and JaKeenan Gant from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Friday in exchange for Bennie Boatwright, Tony East of the West Indianapolis Community News reports.
