2018 Fantasy Outlook
At this time last year, it seemed like point guard Kadeem Allen, not Bird, was a bigger priority for the Celtics. Allen, picked only three spots ahead of Bird, was given a two-year, two-way contract, while Bird received only a one-year, two-way deal. Allen went on to see more time with parent club, especially after Kyrie Irving and Shane Larkin went down with injuries. But it was Bird who seized an end-of-season opportunity to prove his worth at the NBA level. After a strong showing at the Las Vegas Summer League, the Cal product inked a new, two-year contract with the Celtics in July. Of course, that doesn't guarantee him anything more than a spot at the end of the bench, and Bird will need multiple injuries on the wing to see significant playing time. Read Past Outlooks

2017 Fantasy Outlook
Selected 56th in the 2017 Draft, Bird faces a difficult task of making Boston’s 15-man roster. As the fourth rookie selected this year by Boston, there is little room for Bird, unless a series of injuries should occur during the preseason. That’s unlikely. With higher-pick rookies Jason Tatum, Semi Ojeleye and Kadeem Allen also needing development attention, Boston will probably grant second year player Abdel Nader the final roster spot, while using a two-way agreement to season the 23-year-old Bird in the G-League.
