Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Martin had many successes in his two years at LSU, but he had perhaps his most audacious play in February 2015. In a game against Florida, the sophomore took a breakaway and had a between-the-legs dunk during a game. The play showed off his amazing athleticism and power. The Baton Rouge native stayed in-city for college and started 25 games as a freshman. He averaged 10.2 points and 4.6 rebounds and had a pair of 20-point games in late February. The Tigers were invited to the NIT where they beat San Francisco before falling to SMU. In 2014-15, Martin teamed with Jordan Mickey to give LSU one of the better frontcourts in the SEC. The 6-10 forward had 15 double-doubles and averaged 16.9 points and 9.2 rebounds. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in six seasons but lost to NC State in the first round. Martin had 16 points and 11 rebounds against the Wolfpack. He declared for the 2015 draft later in April.

Martin has been acquired off waivers by Stockton.
ANALYSIS
Martin is just a season removed from playing 42 games in the NBA, so there's a good chance he will see plenty of work with the G League Kings as he looks to get his name back on the NBA radar.

Martin, the 25th overall pick in 2015 out of LSU, saw career highs in games played (73) and minutes per game (22.8) last season. Also, as a result of injuries and some not-so-secret tanking, Martin was able to rack up 36 starts. Overall, he averaged 7.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 44.6 percent from the field. Despite his solid development, the Grizzlies -- who drafted big man Jaren Jackson with the fourth overall pick -- opted to trade him (plus cash) to the Magic this summer in exchange for Dakari Johnson. The situation won't be conducive to playing time, however, as Orlando’s frontcourt is loaded with Nikola Vucevic, Mohamed Bamba, Aaron Gordon and Jonathan Isaac. So, it will be difficult for Martin to produce the numbers he did during 2017-18, making him a risky Fantasy option even in deep formats.
Martin spent the majority of the season bouncing back and forth between the D-League and the NBA. During the 42 appearances he made with the Grizzlies, the big man posted 3.9 points and 3.9 rebounds across 13.3 minutes per game while shooting 38.4 percent from the field and 9-of-25 from deep. In the D-League, he averaged 15.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks across 28.1 minutes per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 12-of-40 from beyond the arc. The loss of Zach Randolph to the Kings during the offseason could open up more time for Martin in the Grizzlies’ frontcourt, though it may still be difficult for him to find minutes, as he’ll be competing with the likes of JaMychal Green, Ivan Rabb, Brandan Wright and even Chandler Parsons for minutes. Overall, Martin can likely be safely avoided in the vast majority of Fantasy formats.
Martin (foot), whom the Grizzlies' selected 25th overall this summer, missed the Orlando Summer League due to a stress reaction. However, the athletic, 6-9, 235-pound big man from LSU with perimeter skills has since recovered, as evidenced by his recent between-the-legs dunk at the Panini America photo-shoot. In Martin's second and final college season, he averaged 16.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 35 minutes per game during 33 games. He did this on 12.0 field goal attempts per game while shooting 51 percent from the field, 27 percent from beyond the arc, and 69 percent from the free-throw line. There's no denying that he needs to improve defensively and cut down on his turnovers, as he committed 2.8 per game last year, but his youth and offense will be a welcome addition to the Grizzlies' bench.
